He's not without merit, but:

1 month supply of Vicatin: $100
1 month of ACME Publicity services: $10,000
1 strict law, order, and discipline proponent getting caught as a closet addict of regulated substances: Priceless

It's almost as good as Bill Bennet getting outed as a gambling fiend!

Certain parts of conservatisim are problematic in the first place.  Ergo, they deny basic human nature and instincts, and often criminalize such behavior.  I giggle a little at the folly, when some of the largest salesmen of laws governing behavior X get caught engaged in X themselves.  Physican, heal thyself!  They dance as well as a liberal (cough, NEA Puppet, cough) politican does when asked why he sends his kids to elite private schools.

Apart from fiscal policy, liberals and conservatives very much agree on the method by which government is applied, in that they both want to use it to dictate the behavior of citizens.  They disagree on the desired behaviors, but agree on the method.

Rush is a TURD.  He should be flushed.

Like every other dope fiend, he only agreed to go to rehab AFTER he got caught.

I understand pain meds addiction, my dad got addicted to morphine after a serious accident.  He just sweated it out and took up drinking, but that's another story.

Rush is a hypocrite and should lose his job and any public status he formerly enjoyed.

I love how we're supposed to suddenly feel sorry for addicts.  6 monts ago addicts were the weak-willed scum of the earth, but now because one of your idols has fallen it's all sympathy and "its an illness".  What a crock.

I was challenged to listen to him ironically right when he got busted and decided to hide out at rehab, so I'll be looking for a radio to bring into work.  I am trying to go into this with an open mind, but when the rusheeple continue to reinforce my opinion of them though I bet it's going to be hard.

Where is this smaller government we were promised by the Republian party?  Somewhere along the way, they figured out that it's not the size of the government that people dislike, it's the scope of taxes.  'Government size can increase as long as the taxes on the people don't' seems to be the Republican mantra going today.  Once conservatives got control of the federal government, all of a sudden they found that wielding their power was more fun than reducing it.

Along these lines, Bush does not seem to be willing to do a course correction from Clintons bearing.  Some years ago, we all laughed at Hillary's plan for socailized medicine.  Now, a national drug plan, albeit nowhere near as aggressive as hers, will likely be signed into law.  The difference?  Conservatives want to claim the credit (As opposed to being viewed as the villan), and shine in the eyes of the aging and drug addicted ('Symptoms of life require medication') boomers.  Which brings me back to Rush...

I have not mentioned the RKBA once in this thread.  FYI, I voted for GW, and am going to do it again.  In fact, I've voted for Republican candidates in EVERY election.  Texas politics has gone to your head.  Most Republicans only stand firm behind the 'duck gun' interpretation, and even then are opposed to further regulation only because they can't afford to lose that voting block (where are they going to go anyway).  I've got two strongly Republican senators.  I suspect that both would vote to renew the AWB if they were forced to vote.

So, spare us your 'wisdom' on such matters.
We'll see who the soothsayer is in 15-20 years.  Here's some wisdom for you:  The Republican have not gained ground because people have turned more conservative.  They've gained ground because they've moderated.

WOW! Not only is GWB clairvoiant, but he's SO enamoured of Rush that he's willing to put in a multi-billion dollar program just to serve him!

I never said it should. I, too, was critical of him, and deeply disappointed that he allowed this to occur.

However, what we're hearing here isn't just "critique".

It's hateful, and derisive attacks; the kind of crap you'd expect to find on DUh, not on a board whose general ideals have been defended by this man for YEARS, and who, in large part, believes that not only is drug addiction not a crime, but that drug use itself should be decriminalized.

I expected to hear things like, "Well, I hope this makes him understand why we believe drugs use should be decriminalized." I did NOT expect to hear some of the vindictive crap I've seen posted here.

Addiction to anything sucks but call a spade a spade guys.  I am not going to town on my own. I don’t claim hypocrite, pill popping, liar as my own.
I dont hate the guy.  I used to listen to rush all the time. Hi my name is John and I am an X ditto head

I just started thinking one day while listening to him tell me how great he was, while in the same breath explaining how the mass media is full of hyperbole.  He was doing the same exact thing he was bitching about.  It was a slow new day and he didn’t have much to talk except how great and smart he is and how we should buy this crap he was selling.  It was like he was hawking AMWAY.

[RUSH] “ YOU PEOPLE NEED ME TO POINT THIS OUT FOR YOU “[/RUSH]    I don’t need him to think for me, thank you.

I just stopped listening.

Remember he devoted whole shows to the DC mayor who got caught smoking crack with a hooker. Rush delighted in it. He linked the democraps to him every chance he could.   Dont you remember?
Now I remember how many times he bashed the people who deal and use drugs.  War on drugs, Narco terrorist. Build more jails, tougher prison sentence.

I would have a bit more respect for him if he went into rehab BEFORE getting caught. I know he said he tried acouple time and failed . Want to bet he makes it this time ? Now we all know. I bet he cares a little more now his paycheck is on the line

Is he a hypocrite or not?

I don’t claim hypocrite, pill popping, liars as my own.  I don’t think you guys would either.

I hope he makes it I really do.
