Correct me if I am wrong but one of the States had a law that 30+ round magazines made any firearm a machine gun? I know that I have read about it here.

Ohio. No longer the case but prior to the law change any firearm (excepting a firearm chambered in .22lr) with a magazine capable of holding more than 30 rounds inserted was legally a machine gun. You could however legally own the magazine itself iirc.

That was Ohio. The law was that anything above 30rds was verboten since only MGs uses them. The law didn't state that mags made guns into MGs.

My local congresswoman - who is likely the dumbest person I've ever had the misfortune of speaking to - tried (unsuccessfully) to ban "assault ammunition" in 2012. You'd think she'd have learned to half-assedly Google something before talking about it, but she just recently proposed the "SAFER" act which would, in her own words, "ban high-capacity ammunition."

I really don't know for sure anymore if it's true ignorance or propaganda that they know their misinformed constituents will believe. I really don't.

I recently was shown a letter that your office penned in response to a constituent's inquiry about the fact that despite the plethora of gun control in Chicago it still has some of the worst gun violence in the world per capita.

What jumped out at me was not the party line call for "common sense" gun confiscation that your party advocates. It was the farcical claims that run contrary to the truth. First, gun control is not popular. It has been a losing issue for decades for your party. Second and most laughable is that a magazine's round capacity makes a weapon fully automatic. To claim this is so utterly stupid it ranks up there with Hank Johnson in open session voicing his concern Guam will capsize and tip over.

All I really wanted to express was that I encourage you and your party to continue to make such weak arguments fueled with facts as real as unicorn farts - because that is what got MAGA elected and will help us deplorables in the midterms.
