Details coming later when I have my computer. For now, we are back at Lumberjack in Molalla.
Anybody wants to come by, I’ll buy you a beer. Look for a ‘54 Packard in the parking lot with a clattery transmission. |

Do you at least have a chase vehicle to run with?
Can't imagine making that entire trip running solo, with nothing but tools and a cell phone. |
|
The only good news here, is that you were 1/30 of the way into the trip and not 1/3 of the way.......

That trans must be pretty simple. You should be able to rebuild it easily if you can find the parts.

Damn, that sucks op. Hopefully it's something easy to fix. If it was me, I think I'd be buying a plane ticket home, and figuring out what's next. It'd be tough to fix it and then drive back before Christmas.
Still an epic thread, don't give up OP. |

My comment was apparently taken wrong, on the east coast at least, hiways are a lot better for slower and older vehicles than interstate where all the assholes speeding or texting etc, not to mention more in a hurry than hiways. And you cant stop as fast as newer cars, so when the current drivers wait until last minute to slam brakes on...that will be fun More places to pull over for parts, rest and speeds are still better on hiways then interstate I would rather do 55 in a place where 65 is normal than an interstate where people doing 80+ come up on you real fucking quick Anyways...OP as i said keep it safe and GODSPEED... Any way OP could rent a UHAUL car trailer or tow dolly and a relay could be organized to get him home? I forget now - how many miles need to be covered?

Unfortunately, the last question usually asked is, why was this car parked here originally?

We didn’t want to flush the trans with new fluid for fear of the detergents cleaning off old seals that were sitting for long time. |

"Skipper a Clipper"
I believe the ultramatic 2 speed transmissions are pretty easily rebuilt, and parts are available, maybe from Kanter or others. |

Trailering it home would make sense, but would be boring.
A road trip bringing it home will be epic. Good luck OP. |
