Kudos to the officer for making good hits after being tased.

If someone tazes me on the street, I will respond with deadly force.
Good shoot.

Why was the dead guy in the parking lot?
Was he breaking the law in the parking lot?
Why did the officer decide to arrest?

The dead guy sounds like a real d-bag, but just curious why it went down. The article is lacking details.

At the point of tasing, sounds like good shoot.

No retention type holster on the taser?

A lot of taser holsters are actually blackhawk holsters. Their retention is null. There are safariland type holsters (with the hood over them) but I haven't seen anyone carry one of those since we went to the x2.

ETA:
Not to mention a lot of the go fast guys are wearing their on their vests now in nothing but a glorified cloth pouch with a velcro strap over it.

I can't speak to what the officer was wearing in the instant case, but the first ones we were issued were flimsy as all get out.  I mean, yeah, there was one level of retention (trigger finger button,) but the holster was so flimsy looking I rather suspect a determined person could get the ECW/CEW/whatever we're supposed to call them now/ out by brute force.

Tasers come into a poor second place when up against a handgun.
