There’s currently a push in the halls of Washington D.C., to establish a new branch of the military by 2019, one whose focus would be operations among the stars. Proposed legislation by House representatives would create a “Space Corps” that would serve “as a separate military service within the Department of the Air Force.” It would be the first branch added to the military since 1947 when the Air Force was officially established. |

The Air Force already handles most of our military space needs. I don't see wuy we need a whole new branch for this.

This is nothing more than a budget grab by the DoD. More specifically, the USAF. The black deep of space is more akin to the unexplored blue vastness of the oceans of early civilization so it seems more appropriate that this would be a navy specific mission but we are millennia away from anything close to a space going armed force. More likely the best we can muster for the next few centuries will be orbital munitions and electronic weaponry. |

Should be called the Space Marines. You know it, I know it. Government can't even get something that simple right.
Also dupe. |
