In last thread I informed you about Czech attempt to Schwejk-out the new anti-gun EU directive.
Previous thread Today things got into some motion and the proposal went through first reading in the Chamber of Deputies and was passed on to Committees to deliberate on it. It will be back to plenary within two months with the plan being of having it decided before the Autumn election (hopefully before summer break in the Chamber). Meanwhile the Minister of Interior announced that the suit against the EU is finished and they are only waiting for the Directive to be officially published in order to lodge it. (thanks Snejdarek for translation) And i wasnt passive either - Attending first Czech pro-gun demonstration, collecting signatures for petition, contacted MPs and attended the first reading in parlament. Generally shooters and hunters first jammed entrance to the parlament and then filled every empty space there is in the chamber for audience. Funn fact: The best speech, the most factual one (which parts of Lisabon threaty should help, etc..), the one that included both T.Jefferson and totalitarian gun-grabbing regimes in our history was delivered by commie, former cop - one of those who were beating protesters during Velvet Revolution... well thats Czech politics in nutshell. So far we have full support of: Social Democrats (minister of interior who proposed the amendment) ODS - right-center currently in opposition. KSCM - Communist party of Bohemia and Moravia - probably the biggest paradox... SPD - anti-immigrant party founded by half Japanese entrepreneur. partial supprot: ANO - populist right-to left party of one billionare.. Against: KDU - christian democrats - conservative party with catholic/commie tendencies TOP09 - originated from KDU, led by aristocrat - generally the same as above.. From left to right: Pavel Cerný (police firearm instructor, organized the pro-gun petition) Milan Chovanec (minister of interior, sponsor of constitutional amendment) Jana Cernochová (ODS, MP in opposition) and Jan Korecký (LEX - Czech NRA chairman) at Prague shooting range: |

Good luck, I hope my second favorite country in the world gives the EU the finger.

May FREEDOM RING with the blast of whatever caliber you choose!

Best of luck getting this legislation passed!
Y'all's is one of the few European countries I'd like to visit anymore. |
|
I hope the Czech's get their 2A recognized...
I just saw "Anthropoid" recently and they should be able to prevent a need for a sequel... They should be able to enjoy their fine line of CZ pistols... |

Czechia? My pistol says "Made in Czechoslovakia" on it baby! (in English, which always struck me as odd)
LOVE all things Czech. It's so good seeing one country in Europe maintain sanity, in an era of collective self-destruction. And at a great country too. Been to twice now - that country has a special place in my heart. It's also the birthplace of Modern Genetics. I even went to his little pea-garden at the Monastery in Brno (cool city). |

Good luck on your continued pro-freedom, anti-commie efforts! View Quote On the other hand - the pro-gun amendment is opposed by two conservative/right-wing and christian/catholic parties.. We dont have normal political system. |

My mom's side of the family immigrated from Bohemia ~1910. I would really, really like to visit the home country. At this rate, I'll be buying a house there!

" anti-commie" -well, our Communist party pledged full support for the "amendment".. Our system is so weird that sometimes commies are the most right-wing/capitalist party.. but only sometimes, other times they go full retard and full commie as one would expect from them. On the other hand - the pro-gun amendment is opposed by two conservative/right-wing and christian/catholic parties.. We dont have normal political system. Good for you guys.
I don't understand how any country that has a history of invasion and occupation could support an EU directive against gun ownership. Glad to see you going the other direction. |
