I am thinking about changing the rail on my 16 inch AR.  Four years of a Troy Alpha rail are enough, the rail works fine, I really just want a change.

What is your favorite M-LOK rail and why?

Geissele is sexy and well made. I have one. Is awesome. The newer MI rails look pretty good too but I don't have any experience there.

Yeah, but I'll admit I am biased.  The two rails I have sitting in a parts box for my next build are MK8s.

Nice that they come with a gas block and go on sale so frequently, including today.

So bored I even looked it up for you. Dealer is on ARF and GTG.

Geissele (for an all around bombproof handguard) or ALG (for a slim, MLOK alternative to the KMR).

At the moment, this in 11 inch length.

Might try a Faxon or a Vella industries rail once they release an all Mlok rail instead of this oddball half Mlok half keymod thing they have now.

I have nearly everything and I have to say that ALG makes the most ergonomically correct, best feeling rail out there. Yes I have Geissele Mk8 rails.

I have one mk4 on an SBR I put together and love that thing. I have another mk4 ready to to be put on another upper I'm building.

But you can't stop at just the Geissele rail. You need the rail, trigger, optic mount, buffer spring/weight, and charging handle

SLR.  I go with them first.  Only rifle that doesn't have one is because I needed a rail that was able to fit over my 9mm can.

I am almost there with you.  Got an SSA and an SSA-E in that parts box.  The SSA-E is going on a heavier weight more precision AR that will have a scope in a G mount.  Also have Bobro though.

Haven't drank the KoolAid on the G buffer kit yet, but mostly because it is pricey and I already have two BCM buffers/tubes/springs in that parts box.  The G kit looks nice though.

Got plenty of G tools - punch kits, reaction rods, etc.

I prefer Midwest Industries as they're strong, lightweight, no hype, and do what I need them to do, and is very ergonomic.

If it isn't a Midwest Industries M-Lok, then it isn't worth it to me.

I have had a few MI rails. I really don't like the little divots they put on the edges in between the mlok slots.  The only MI rail I have left is the ssg12 because it's comfortable. ( And a ak handguard quad rail. )  theyve been around for a while but their newest stuff doesn't compare well with Geissele, ALG, SLR, Centurion, KAC, and a couple others.  Theyre decent, but they have a lesser attachment system and are not as comfortable as the best of the best.  YMMV.

If the screws loosen up a lil, the rail falls forward off the gun.  Happened to me a couple times.

It's pretty much the worst barrel nut interface of brands that aren't "cheap crap"

Yeah, something like that.

Everybody knows a simple compression fit with glue is always the best option.  Need any grooves in the barrel nut to pin the clamping bolts?? Nah.  Just friction and glue.

Of course...I did own one too.  Side by side with a UTG Pro, and the Pro is better in every conceivable way.

My current rail is better than both of those.

Long as you like it.  But they are the only manufacturer I'm aware of with such an asisine attachment method.

You pot to kettle too much.

OP asked for opinions, I gave him one, one that didn't bash anything else and yet here you are, upset that I didn't push anything that isn't a Geiselle.

Did I mention Geissele at all in relation to your post?    Literally anything would have been better than MI (yeah, let's use glue to attach our handguard to the barrel nut!).  Is that a little bias I'm seeing?

I've never had this problem. I think this one is going on 1,000 plus right now.

Now MI's older tubes, I would agree with you as they've come off on my Colt A1 NFA. These newer ones have not been a problem so far.

I installed a Geiselle rail for a customer a couple of days ago. It looked great and felt solid. However, it felt a little large and blocky. Not terrible but not sleek. Kind of how a Glock 21 feels.
