I grew up in the 80's and 90's and remember Regan's famous line "Tear down that wall" I remember the Soviet Union as our mortal enemy and watched them become the very pro-USA country of Russia under Yeltsin. I speak and read some Russian, not fluently or anything. My hometown had a sister city in Russia growing up and when I was in grade school we exchanged letters with other kids. It was a pretty nice world at that time, and really I can't remember an era of US foreign relations that was as stable and productive. (maybe I'm wrong here).
Then it happened, WE fucked it up. We bombed Belgrade, and the happy fun time ended. That was the singular event that soured the friendship between the US and Russia. To this very day, if you asked, most Russians would point to that event as reason we don't get along anymore. The breakup of Yugoslavia was a total mess, and Miloševic was guilty of Genocide, no question about that. But they way we got involved in Bosnia ended our friendly relationship with Moscow. That is Clinton's legacy for you. Maybe we need to remind the Democrat's of the nasty little fact. So what does the hive think? Should be at odds with Russia? Are they really a threat to us? I think we are going to need to be buddy-buddy with the Ruskies, if we are going to handle China in the future... |

The "weird" part is that, for 80 years, the Democrats basically wanted to let the Russians fuck their faces.
Go figure, right |

The US and Russia can be allies, but never truly friends. We are not truly friends with China. Only Nations that are our real friends would be Britain, Canada, Aus, etc..-essentially English speaking countries. |

Because the delusional demoncrats say so. They are truly a sick, delusional propagandist bunch of morons, along with their fake news sycophants.

Because it's never ended well for anyone else in the past, ever. Russia fucks its allies, kills people and steals their shit. That's what they do.
Fuck Russia. The worst parts of Western and Eastern cultures mixed together in an unholy imperialistic expansionist fuckstain of a nation. Cautiously and skeptically neutral is the best anyone ever needs to do with Russia. |

Because the rooskies will want to legitimize their recent claims in Ukraine, Georgia...etc. I agree with cooperation but we can shake hands but keep the other on our wallet.

We should have friendly or at least cordial relations with Russia. There is no reason to start another cold war.
But yes, like said above, the "hawk" conservative war mongers want peace so the peaceful "dove" leftists want war. |

Because of the pricks that are in control, I have been to Russia many times and the people loves us and are very nice, but it has been who has the bigger Dick since the days of the Russian revolution.
There is really no reason we can't be allies, we were cautious allies in WWII, but that will never make us friends. |

The rooooskies are extremely paranoid.
They always think someones after their snow. |

Russians are sneaky fucks that cant be trusted.
Thats what is wrong with being pals with the Russians. |

We have made friends with nearly every nation we have been to war against...some of those who were our allies are now our enemies
China for example... |

My father used to say he never understood being mad at Russian they looked the most like us

OP, I am like you, only I got to see the end of the cold war first hand as I spent an entire summer in Russia as an exchange student in 1993. This included Moscow, St. Pete, Kiev and about 4 other cities. I will tell all of you this.....
1. The Russians that could be considered of Generation X age ALL WANT TO BE JUST LIKE EVERY AMERICAN. They LOVE our culture and stuff. They fucking love it, they want to be pseudo-americans. They do not hate us (or at least at that time). To me it was sorta like High school with them and the Americans were the popular kids and the russians were wanting the popular kids approval and to be in the "in" group. 2. They have national pride just like us and want to be left alone, just like us. We fuck up our relationship when we try to tell them what to do in their own turf (Obama's globalism). We wouldn't take that shit so why should they? 3. They are a mostly christan (orthodox) nation. ANy christian "white" capitalist (they are capitalist now) nation we need to be fucking friends with. There's no fucking reason we can't be cool with the russians the same way we became cool with the germans and japanese. 4. Russians respect people who are tough, if you act like a pussy like obama, they will fuck with you as weakness provokes them. See the thing is their government doesn't trust us because WE flake on every deal, fuck over every one of our allies at some point, and cannot be relied upon due to our sometimes left leaning government and their progressive globalist agenda. I like to think that Putin knows what real americans look like and know that we sometimes elect idiots like obama but hopefully putting Trump in there Putin sees that we are course correcting and want to have a mutually exclusive relationship with them. I mean why the fuck not? we could tell the entire middle east to shut the fuck up if we did a divide and conquer. We should be partnering with them on everything and instead of having china or mexico build our shit, it should be russia. Bomb them with our capitalism. |

Because it doesn't allow for the proxy war the left was trying to start.
They are becoming capitalists. They are a shining example of how extreme socialism is always a failure and how bad it is when it eventually falls. They are against globalism. Putin respects nationalistic pride instead of hand wringing submission....ergo....he disrespected Obama and his aims whenever he could. |

I grew up in the German Democratic Republic and moved to the USA in 1989 the problem was never the people the problem is our governments. Russian are great people and many times are demonized as some how evil. Honestly Russia as an ally to the USA can only be positive because them as our enemy is only bad for both countries. If any enemy exist to the US it is Iran and Russia would be a good ally to have in getting them in line with the world community. Plus we are allies with far shittier pieces of shit cough Saudi Arabia cough comes to mind. I would rather be ally with Russia than Saudi Arabia at least Russia does not hate women. All the Russians are sneaky and the boogieman what do you think we do to other countries we do the exact same thing just you do not hear about us doing it in our MSM. |

Putin is ex KGB, and one of the quotes he is famous for is this one...the greatest disaster to befall Russia is the breakup of the Soviet Union. the only reason Russia had any economic status is due to the fact they were sucking every eastern european country dry. some of the people of Russia may be decent, but the oligarchs and people in the Kremlin are among the most corrupt on the planet. Putin has enacted some kind of legislation which has effectively wiped out opposition parties for future elections. the future for Russians looks very much like the past.

Because Russia is an expansionist authoritarian kleptocracy that has no regard for human rights. It threatens its neighbors who share our values and sees its relationship with the United States as a zero-sum game. Either the U.S. stands for something or it does not. Generations of Americans died and sacrificed in the believe that it does.
"But we can't afford to be America!" is bitch faggot talk. Go be something else, then, gtfo of my country. |

Operation Big Macs y Apple Pie Para Todos... not so much. |

The Native Americans got a hell of a deal. They were utterly and thoroughly defeated, and were still given opportunities to either assimilate into American culture (which most did) or remain somewhat sovereign on tribal lands. Most world powers of the time would have simply enslaved or annihilated them. A bit of comparing 18th century apples to 20th century oranges anyway. |

A "relationship of equals" with Russia might not be a bad thing. However, if Putin is the puppeteer pulling the strings, and controlling the entire American system behind the scenes, this is not good. In fact it's extremely alarming. Maybe it's time to watch "The Manchurian Candidate" again.
