looks like too much work,,jus remember stay FAR to the right, i dont give much room when ppl are on my road..lol. (on a side note-looks like a very nice bicycle)
really nice bike
how many miles a week do you ride? does a carbon frame ride any different than alum. frame? i run about 20 miles a week, but i dont get to ride very much. i have an trek 500. good enough for the amount of riding i do right now though. |
Needs some cards in the spokes
Editted to add- Just kidding that's a pretty serious looking bike, I don't think I'll be catching you on my $ 200 mountain bike. |
Nice ride.
9 cog rear? How long are the cranks? 53/39? You must be about my height. (i.e., not to much!) Are you running clinchers or sew-ups? And, oh yeah, definatly need a card in the spokes. |

Wow, that's smaller than my wife's bike. Her Castelli is 56cm. I have two custom built 67cm road bikes and a TT bike. 190mm cranks on the road and 195mm on the TT bike. All D/A except for the cranks and BB. D/A BB don't like that much stress.
Nice ride. Get some classy Elite bottle cages. Is that saddle comfy? |
no shocks or disc brakes? WTF kinda mountain bike is that? [;)]
lol...I'll get that card on the spokes...think a clothes pin will work?
Its a 51cm frame with a 53cm top tube. I am running a 110mm stem, and my cranks are 172.5mm. The Cassette is a 12-23. innocent_bystander...you must be a freaken giant brother!!!! 67cm frame? Thats huge! Whats your overall reach? |
Didn't know there were so many bike enthusiasts on this site.
..running clinchers, the saddle is great...like it better than Selle Italia Flight Gel and its much lighter, but the key is a good pair of shorts. Santini twist gel bibs... I have found to be the best. The bike is smooth as silk. The carbon fiber soaks up the road vibrations, and the Fondriest layering technique allows all the power to be transferred to the road. QCMGR...how do you like your Trek? Here are some more pics: |

As I got older I found I like sitting erect and a bike with a real butt holding seat and fork suspension for a smooth ride. It's still excersize and I don't have to wear those gay looking spandex bike shorts to fit the style of my bike.
I wish I had a pic of a bike I saw the other day. It has a Chevy 502 big block V8 mounted on it. A company in Oklahoma makes them. At: www.kannonmc.com/motorcycles.htm |
http://www.bosshoss.com Does a better job of the big block bikes.
Umm, 67 cm? How tall are you? I'm 6'4" and can ride a 62 cm.
I ride a Lemond Zurich, which is quite nice. Stable handling but quick enough to be at home in a fast paceline and descends well. |
Looks like somebody took a baseball bat to middle of the top bar in the frame.
not another GAY thread.
(look at that seat! you'd have to be gay to ride that thing) |

This is my race ride... |
I'm 6'7" and my inseam is 103cm thus the big bike. Leonard Zinn and I are about the same size except he is 20 pounds lighter. The thinnest I have ever been was 190 at 5% body fat. Zinn is like 170 pounds.
On another note. Joe Friel hangs out here part of the year and goes on our group rides. He turned me on to Coombe pedals. If you use Sidi shoes the pedals are ultra low profile.

I thought that was getting light...then found out its a small 50's frame. That is getting piggy, IMHO.
My 57 cm CAAD 4 weighs in at 14.5 pounds. All DA, including the BB (with no problems, either) and Easton carbon bar and seatpost. Ritchey WCS stem and O2 racing saddle. For the wheels, I made a 1250 gram pair of clinchers. American Classic 350 rims with their lightweight hubs. Yes, 1250 grams, WITH STRIPS and SKEWERS, ready to roll with grease! Unfortunately the rims are no longer available as components so building a similar set is nigh impossible although you could buy the wheels outright and relace. I run 23mm Supersonics and have gotten great mileage off them but I only weigh 160 pounds. |
I have a 9 speed Trek 5500 and 2300.
LA is currently testing out Shimano's new 10 speed stuff, but I'll stick with 9 for a while. Thank god we haven't had to endure any "Shimano is junk: Buy Campy" posts,,, yet. Jay |
Nice ride!! I race an Anniversary edition, CAAD 7 Cannondale Black Lightning. It is #225 out of 300. Full Campy Record carbon fiber groupo, with a Selle Italia Prolink saddle. 12-25 10 speed cogset, Campy Neutron wheelset, and Conti Grand Prix 3000s. It is right at the UCI legal weight limit, and it is sized at about 61 cm. Amazing how many cyclists there are on this board.
Edited to add: Shimano is junk, buy Campy! [:D] |
nice setup.....I was into raodbikes in the 80s....now I do the Mountain Bike thing and everyother day street riding for my cardio....bikes are always fun
Nice setup.
I ride a Cannondale R1000 Red, White, and Blue paint job. I post pics sometime soon. |

[:D] View Quote Correction, Shimano WAS junk. Now the two are nearly identical in functional quality...but if you want to pay 50% more for cosmetic differences, go right ahead. Its like saying a Lecia is far superior to a Nikon. Or a BMW is far superior to a Lexus. Now back to the bike...if I were to swap my CAAD 4 out with a CAAD 7, I could get down to the 13 pound range...currently my bike is a bit on the harsh side and it takes a special style of riding to keep good contact with the road. No sprints like an old steel bike. |
Of course Shimano isn't junk, Keith, I was making a joke on what AZCOP wrote. My mountain bikes have Shimano groups. Lance seems to do fine with Shimano on his road bike, also. I just like the Campy shifters so much better. The Record groupo doesn't cost twice what DA costs, anyway, and I get those really cool carbon levers and carbon derailleur body!!

9mm vs. .45, AR vs. AK, Smimano vs. Campy, trimmed vs natural. Where will it end.

...Just got back from an Airborne Op...Lots of responses! You all have some sweet rides!
I was going to buy a Cannondale, but the deal on the Fondriest was too good to pass up! The indentation on the top tube is actually supposed to be for knee clearance. Innocent_bystander...Do you find the Coombe pedals to be a good platform? I have the SIDI Genius 4's as well....and brother you are a giant! Do your pedals scrape the road?...LOL Keith_J...57cm at 14.5? Thats light brother! I better weigh mine again....I'll take the computer off this time ;-) |
The cool thing about the Sidi/Coombe combo is that the sole of your shoe will strike pavement before the pedal or cleat. I'm running 190 cranks with pretty much a standard BB height and never had a strike. They are great crit pedals.

My friends told me it was to make the bike more aerodynamic instead of the wind passing through the spokes. I've also heard it was a disadvantage becuase cross winds will make those solid dish covers seem like sails and cause instability. Is this still a current trend in the biking world? |
