16 hour drive from Tucson. Not bad. I ain't flying with my MGs. I'm gonna have to make this trip!
Those from out of the area, try to get a caravan going and bring more people from your area, or meet up with others on the way....

I'll be there. It'll be a success. There are no buts, nuts about it. |

I made it from the south end of Austin to Phoenix (Chandler) in 16 hours ON THE NOSE. And that was with stopping for 45 minutes in Las Crusas for breakfast. And I was barely keeping up with traffic! hehehe It was exactly 1021 miles from my parent's driveway to my uncle's driveway, and took me 16 hours exactly. 550 of those miles were in Texas! It's one damn big state!! (Texas - Bigger than France) Come on over, we'll show you a good Texas welcome! {edited to add} Hey, LT, does that range have facilities to possibly have something like an IDPA or a Tactical Carbine match?? We might could get Mike of TexasTactical to run something for us up there. |

LOL. I got the hourage (is that a word?) from mapquest. I think Hell Paso is about 5 hours. So if Waco is another 8, then I should make it in about 13 or so. With a truck full of NFA, I ain't speedin. Barring unknown events I'll be there. Anyone from Tucson or Southern AZ want to hook up let me know. Even you Phoenix boys have to go through here, we could meet and caravan over. IM me or email.
az_larry, I believe CavArms is coming with all their wares. Maybe you guy can hook up before you get out of AZ and just caravan with them.
Don't forget to dnload your ATF form to transport class3 www.atf.treas.gov/forms/pdfs/f532020.pdf |

Anyone going from TN? My wife & I would love to go, we could rent a car but a caravan would be great. (We could fly I guess... how do you fly with guns?)
Sumo, flying with guns is not that bad. Have it in a locked case. Check in as luggage. Inform ticket counter that you have a firearm to be checked in. You are limited on ammo though. We are looking into getting an ammo vendor for the event.
As far as caravaning over, that will probably be the best way. Post in the hometown forum to see if you can find folks in the area. |

So far that's the info I'm getting. And that's VERY good news, as I don't have to wait for another form to makes it's way slowly through NFA branch. It'll be great to meet evryone. Spectre, let me know when you'll be hitting town, we can caravan up. |

I guess I'll have to go unconcealed for the hour or so I drive through New Mexico. Good news is reciprocity with TX and AZ
az_larry, NM has a travelling law much the same as TX does. It is a defense to prosecution.
What I did is to keep a brief case in the front seat. I left it locked but one number away from being opened. That way you can say the gun is in a "locked" case. Now I'm not a lawyer so take that advise as you would any free advise given on the board. |

View Quote I would not count on it not being a defense to prosecution when a rookie DPS officer puts the cuffs on you. AZ_larry would not have to worry about that in TX since he has an AZ CCW. We have reciprocity with AZ. He only need to be concerned with NM. |

I actually live only a couple of hours from Waco, I sure did luck out this year. This will be my FIRST Gunstock convention EVER!! I can't wait.

I have received reluctant clearance from the tower. Preliminary arrangements to attend will commence. It's only a 17 hour drive, according to Mapquest.

Gotta talk to the wife about it, but I believe I know what I'm doing with the rest of my vacation this year.
Can you say "Caravan?" I knew you could. |

Hopefully the Texas Crew will be able to make it a great event! |

For you local guys, which hotel would you suggest for both being close and nice?
The 2 hotels we are recommending are the Clarion or the Hilton. Numbers are on the website.
Count me as a nother possible attendee/refugee from Illinois !
If you get a FLA CCW you can pack in every state you'd pass thru to get there, plus texas. CKMorley |

Well, I hope registration will be open Friday morning as well. Hopefully, I'll be rolling in there sometime that a.m. I've made my reservations at the Hilton!

Yes, of course registration will be open Friday. That is the day of the event [;)]. I was gonna have registration/check in Thurs afternoon for a few hours. Mainly for the few that gets there early.
This will hopefully cut down on the lines for Friday registration/check in. |
