Lockheed-Martin Corporation in Moorestown, NJ has publicly unveiled the next generation of radar to help keep our country secure from foreign invaders.

The S-band advanced radar, or "S-Bar," is designed to significantly improve detection of approaching missiles at much greater ranges and with more precision than current radar.

Lockheed-Martin president Fred Moosally was asked what this new system will cost to produce:

"I really can't give you the final cost because the development effort is ongoing right now. The final unit production costs will be determined at a later date."

This will be part of a sea-based missile defense system that could be in production in three years and is expected to be on board its first ship in 2009.
