we are thinking of going and i want to go to Hawaii but it's kinda pricey so i'm thinking maybe Cozumel or somewhere around there. where do you go? give me some tips and whatever else you can think of. |
|
go to the Texas gulf coast...atleast its in the US...or go to the Virgin Islands if you want to fly for a few....
It all depends on your budget... if money was really no object and I had visited the beautiful sites of the US...I would go to CYPRUS |

I'll be over that hill in the background come latter part of next month.... Mike PS - NO cell-phones, beepers, faxes, voice mail, e-mail or neighbors..... (hopefully just me and the wildlife) for 2 weeks. |

i have thought about the Texas coast because it is close but an island sounds nice
thats a nice view there MrWilson |

Sounds like you're looking for a beach-type vacation. So I won't suggest Colorado. [:D]
My brother and sister-in-law go to Mexico (coastal resorts) every couple of years and love it. They say it's a great value. |
|
I go to the Grand Tetons to do hiking with the guys
and the Blue Parrot in Playa Del Carmen Mexico to chill out with my wife. |

Im thinking of going to the Philippines, I
always wanted to visit the PI, maybe meet a nice Filipina [:)] |
|
It is $900 per person, It is through
www.suntrips.com But you have to call them to get rates 1-800-SUNTRIPS I paid $800 for the same deal last year. Im not sure where all they are located but I fly out of DIA, which means I have to drive to Denver. |

I went to Thailand for 2 weeks over Christmas. It was unbelievable, I spent about $2000 including airfare. But the flights are horribly long. It is worth it though. Although with SARS going around over in that area it might not be the best choice.
We were in Bangkok for 5 nights then Phucket for three and Phi Phi island for 4 nights (we went to Mya bay, where they filmed "The Beach") and then Bankok for 3 more nights. |

Costa Rica. Buy a machette and learn to open coconuts. Eat weird fruits and food. Pretend your rich, highly educated and very tall (to them you are). See wierd orange squirrels, sloths and other weird amimals in the weird jungles. Meet a hot local babe and marry her. I did (all of the above).

There are two basic types of vacations.
The first, I call "Take Life Easy". This is your beach trips, islands, etc. where you take life easy and spend lot's of money shopping and eating out etc. The second, I call "The Great Adventure". This is your climb a mountain or sail a boat type adventure. It too costs money. I like both............and to tell you the truth can't make up my mind which when it's time. I can tell you other than bragging rights such as "We went here" all of the "Take Life Easys" have been the same. You live in a hotel, you eat in a resturant, and you lay on the beach. Some people get a kick out of saying the waters was so blue. I reply I guess that was worth another $1,000. The beach is the beach no matter where I have gone so I would suggest you look for a good deal and be happy. If you have never done a "Great Adventure", you don't know what you are missing and there are wifey appropriate ones like going on a charter sailboat or Riverboat trip or mountion adventure (she goes shopping while you hike.). With this in mind, one of our fav spots is Charleston SC. We go about twice a year. We are close so can do a long weekend. You have the beach, unbelieveable resturants, historic buildings, buggy rides, shopping, Ghoast Walk, Plantation tours, and military history (Naval Museum). The place I stay is 15 minutes from downtown, on the beach, seafood resturant next door, and fishing pier. |

I have only been there once, and really would like to go back sometime. |

I already live in vacation land....[:D]

No where. Those sort of places are way too expensive. The only vacations I've really taken in about 10 years is a drive for the day through the mountains.z

2001 went to DC and Williamsburg Va. (1 Week)
2003 Went to Cancun Playa Del Carmen All inclusive and FREE (1 week) Don't know where to go in 04. |

When I go on vacation, I don't want to see anybody. One of those big resorts would drive me nuts.
I go to the south end of Elbow Key in the Abacos. |

Like TJ my wife and I LOVE Charleston, SC.
Been 4X in 5years of marriage--about to make it a 5th time--2 MORE WEEKS!!!! Even though it takes TJ longer--you really can be on the beach in just over 5 1/2 hrs. |
|
This coming up saturday the folks and my bro are going to San Destin, FL.. rented a super nice beach house for a week. Then going to New Orleans to see the D-Day museum(part of my bday present)

Cozumel, no doubt, superdav!!!! I'm a SCUBA diver so that's heaven for me, and don't forget it's just a half and hour boat ride from Cancun. [naughty] |
|
Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, is a nice place to vacation. (in winter) Hotter than hell in the summer and it rains every afternoon (but the rates are good) :) Better than Cancun, IMHO. Old town, old families, not a bunch of transient workers. Water is drinkable, food is great, just a better atmosphere. Alaska is a great also. |
|
Charleston, SC. I stay on Isle of palms for a week each summer. Goto the beach, go downtown to eat and drink.
It is laid back. The people are friendly! I was stationed in Hawaii for 5 years. It was nice and warm, but I got tired of it. If you decide to go to Hawaii, IM me and I'll give you the lowdown on what to check out. mjp |

I'm with JHill. I love the South Carolina Lowcountry. Plus with the NAACP boycott, you don't have to worry about any rif-raf.

Grand Cayman...
God...now I have to ...oh...shit...(hides credit cards) |
|
i've been looking at Cozumel and Cancun. my sister went to cozumel and REALLY liked it. a friend of mine went to and island in that area(i think Jamaica) but he said he had to put up with a few topless fat women [puke] thats something i dont want to see either so no clothing optional beaches

Lokks beautiful. Just remember, that's all you will pay if you don't leave the resort, but if you do leave, it's easy to spend money fast. |

I had a great time in Cozumel and want to go back. I'd recommend it. No "Big city nightlife" though...but that was the LAST thing I was looking for.
|
|
I can't even remember the last time I went on vacation. It was a long time ago, maybe 10 years or more. I can't afford it.
I would love to go to Greece, though, or Italy. |
|
Since you mentioned Cozumel I will say I had a great time there. Cancun, too touristy & Spring Breakish for me.
Cozumel was perfect, touristy on the main drive and nice just a few blocks away. Expensive & cheap hotels, great diving. I had a great time. Isla De Mujeres is really laid back, a 20 minute boat ride from Cancun. If you are on the cheap there is a Hostel there under $10 a night. BTW, Cozumel is 40 miles south of Cancun & a 30 minute boat ride. Well worth the trip though. If you dive, it's the place to go. |
