'65/'66 Mustang weighs under 3000#, Mini about half that. The Mustang walks the Mini on the straights, but the Mini holds a harder corner. Power-to-weigh ratio pretty evident Those first generation Mustangs take a lot of work to make them handle worth a damn. 50+ year old unibody cars (flex big time), the suspension geometry sucks for trying to apply mechanical grip. Eleven-second '65 Mustang in the garage 
At one time I'd considered auto-cross. Completely different animal vs. a chassis set up for drag racing |

Sporty, compact and stylish but not always HP focused. "Muscle Car" came later and refers to any 2 or 4 door models designed for performance. There are Mustang variant that are clearly Muscle Cars. Boss 429, 428 Super Cobra Jet, GT500 to name some. |
