In my state at least, that's illegal. Referred to as a 'zip gun'.

A single-shot untraceable derringer would be handy though it would lack the panache of my trusty Belgian Browning 25 automatic.

[peep]

BTW both my mailman and UPS guy must hate me.  On Monday the poor UPS guy had to deliver an MG-42 tripod.  A couple of weeks ago, 1,280 rounds of 7.62 NATO.

80% is fine and dandy with me...
Anyways, what the hell can someone who doesn't know how to shoot going to do with a single-shot 22lr? (Someone who CAN shoot properly, would most likely be able to posess something legally)

Never bring a single shot .22 converted black power derringer to a gun fight.

When the founding fathers included the second amendment in the Constitution, I doubt they had such stupid fucking rules in mind, particularly when you consider the context in which it was written.

"Why yes, Mr. Ben Franklin, of course the second amendment means the masses are restricted to 80% receivers, section 922(r) restrictions, and no bayonet lugs or folding stocks."

Bullshit.

Got news for ya dudes.  It is perfectly legal for an individual to manufacture a modern firearm as long as it is for personal use.  The type of firearm must not violate any existing regulations (e.g., may not be NFA, SBS, SBR, AOW, assault weapon, high cap mag).  It also may not ever be transferred to anyone else.  FAC even lists the statute in their catalog if you want to look it up.  May not be right, moral, kosher, safe, whatever, but it IS legal.

How reliable would this conversion be guys?

Would it blow up on you?

If it's legal, it's interesting.

IIRC, Brownells, which is certainly a legit outfit, offers conversion cylinders that will let you fire modern ammunition in a black powder revolver - no FFL required.

How is this any different?  I've seen these floating around for more than a few years, and nobody's bitched about it.

I don't have a problem with getting catalogs with guns on the covers, but having the womenz dress in Nazi uniforms to display them is pretty cheezy...

What exactly is illegal?  The black powder gun?  The sleeve?  Posession of both?  Why?

You are going to have to shut down the entire SASS
Single Action Shooter's Society Cowboy shooter because they do this all the time. There are many companies that make drop in replacement cylinder for black powder single action guns that convert them to centerfire cartridge.

Did you see on the back page of that same flier they are selling a 9mm barrel insert that uses 209 shotgun primers to fire a dart?

That sounds cool.  What kind of 9mm barrel would that drop in?

Best way is to get a C&R license, and then mail FAC (and about a thousand other gun dealers) a copy of it – You'll get catalogs till you want to puke.

Best damned thirty bucks you'll ever spend!

I started getting the FAC catalog after ordering an MG-42 tripod from Sportsman's Guide.  I'll bet they pimped out my mailing info.

Conversion of something into a gun that wasn't originally designed to be a gun, or making a crude homemade gun. I suppose you can make a high-quality homemade firearm then. But I'm thinking this would be a no-no in Ohio.
