"I did put a piece of cardboard under my car," Keylor said. "There's been approximately one drop a day, so I just feel that this is excessive."

Oil will fuck up an asphalt parking lot quickly.

Just leave the cardboard there. Bam, problem solved.

Get your car fixed, it's not going to start leaking less.

You chose to live in an HOA.

.mil is already on top of this problem.  Stupid fucking drip pan gets put under vehicle every time you park.

And yeah, she chose to live in an oppressive collective.  0 fucks.

like someone else here said

"living in a HOA is like living in a small piece of California" or something along those lines

That's just sweat from all the horsepower.

It's her oil gauge . . . once you stop seeing drips then add oil.

They DEFINITELY don't want to see my driveway.  '62 special drips at least that much, CRX did before I pulled the motor and I've puked all kinds of fluid out of everything else.  Amazing my grass isn't dead . . . at least it kills everything in the cracks

There is no such thing as a leaking rear main in a 4.0, that only means that the engine has reached puberty at about 120k miles

Fuck living in an HOA but I don't blame them. Oil is a lighter petroleum product than the liquid asphalt (what most people incorrectly call tar) in asphalt pavement. As such, oil will desolve the much more viscous liquid asphalt and over time cause it to evaporate leaving behind only the crushed stone and sand components. This of course destroys the pavement.

Yep. That was about 120,000 miles ago.

This.
Tons of HOAs here, also plenty of houses for sale without one.

Good thing that the streets where turned over to the Commonwealth, Hoa has no say.  Good things, cars leak like a sieve.

My CJ-5 leaks from every place that has oil, and maybe a few places that don't have oil. But, I don't live in an HOA, and it stays in the garage.

On the bright side, my garage floor will never rust.

At work we had to use "duck ponds", 4'x4' with 8" sidewalls yellow plastic each weighing about 30# under all equipment everything  from a light plant to a D10 when stationary.

Start putting one of those down, the hoa may complain but the epa will love you.

Or a British sports car. Dad keeps a drip pan under his 1950s MG.

I don't think I've ever owned a vehicle that didn't at least leak one type of engine fluid, but I'm not dumb enough to live in a HOA neighborhood, either.

I'm also the type of neighbor that will park a smashed up vehicle in my driveway for a week that I bought at the auction.

I'm guessing the only thing in your toolbox is a checkbook.

Yeah, you could spend a bunch of time and/or money to replace that rear main seal that leaks 1 quart every oil change, or you could just spend $3.99 a quart and add some when it gets low.

Just mount a tiny drip pan to the underside of the car with zip ties.  This is assuming you have sufficient clearance.

+1 and that applies to a classic or even a current production model.

When does a Lotus not leak oil?
