Sniper_408, you need to address this question to the crew at www.hkpro.com.
The answer I think you'll get is that the new owners of HK have not yet re-vamped their screwed up dealership system. The system got screwed up because the previous owners, a bunch of Brits with their panties in a bind about liability issues, didn't really want to sell guns, not to civilians at any rate. The dealer system was geared solely towards providing for law-enforcement/military sales in volume. Individual orders for admittedly neutered, gray-colored single stack SL8s and USCs were at the bottom of the priority list, and for right now, remain there. The SL8 is being discontinued, as you probably know, due to lack of sales interest for a 10-round capacity grey gun that costs $1,100 when we can get a brand new Bushmaster that takes 30-round mags for $700. Watch for the USC to get the axe soon too.
The good news is that the new owners are a conglomerate of Germans who are real gun nuts and who want to sell guns. THUS, they are right now looking for a fitting place in Washington D.C. or northern Virginia to build a full size factory right here, which means HK's will no longer be imported into the USA. There are two reasons for doing this:
1. No stupid 922(v) import ban problems for domestic civilian sales (rumors of a semi-auto G36 if the AW ban sunsets are of course rampant), and
2. Germany has very restrictive and stupid export laws regarding weaponry, which have been hampering HK's efforts to sell overseas. An HK plant in the USA could sell rifles to Turkey, for example, without the leftists in the German government having a damn thing to say about it.
Once ground is broken on the new factory in the USA, you'll see the old HK dealer programs get changed around. HK's future is bright, like S&W they have seen the folly of trying to appease the anti-gunners with grey guns and thumbhole stocks, and they have some BADASS toys on the drawing boards. Don't ask me how I know, but I'll just say the P2000 is just a good starting point, HK's subcompact is going to give Glock a real run for their money!
