Pretty cool, I imagine it uses some type of shotgun ammo?

A .50 BMG round might be too much [:D]

I'm not sure I like the "fire-on-closing" version - "Here, Jim, lemme show you how to load this bad boy." BLAM! "S**T!"

Just my opinion.

That thing has a silencer on it. I wonder how BATF views that? Think Joe's Kiln Company needs a tax stamp?

What's it for?

Edit: Never mind, I just read the page...

I used to have an old Chevy that we swapped engines in, but the linkages didn't match exactly. We either had to get a drill bit that was 3 feet long to punch through the firewall into the cab, (or use a .223). We opted for the immediate remedy! (does that count as "industrial")

I have heard of power plants using those to blast slag off of boilers.

I think they were 8 gauge.

A long time ago I bought a case of shells for one of those kiln guns.  Unfortunately we didn't fire them in a gun per se, but in a tube stuck in the ground.  We used them as an energy source for seismic work while mapping an underground rock formation.

Yup!

8 Ga slugs and shot. Federal geared up for them at one time, but we just took a cutting torch to the loader.

Yup.  They blast slag off boilers in the power house where my dad works.  A helluva gun.
