Don't rob banks.....
And you won't get shot... seems like a simple rule of thumb to follow. |

In the United States of Gotguns, the only news this would have made would have been in the "Officer of the Month" section of the department newsletter.

I suppose somewhere around rule 6 or 7 of armed bank robbery is "Don't get rid of your gun until you're absolutely sure you got away."

Reminds me of an old timer I knew once who apprehended a bank robber after a foot chase. He had the suspect cornered in a drainage ditch. He was kind of winded and hadn't put the suspect into cuffs yet. The robber told the Deputy he was not going to go back to prison and he was going to take the Deputy's duty weapon. The Deputy got on the radio and informed Dispatch that it was almost quitting time so he was just going to go ahead and kill the suspect and let second shift deal with it. Dispatch laughed out loud over the radio. The robber immediately surrendered.
No, he wasn't joking. The old guy had no sense of humor at all. Bank robbers need to understand that getting shot by crotchety old timers who want to be home in time for Jeopardy is an occupational hazard. |

If this MENSA candidate wanted the police to have better situational awareness, maybe he shouldn't have ordered everyone to the ground inside the bank? It might be hard to get solid info when everyone's on the ground wondering if they're going to be the first to take a bullet to the head if this psycho doesn't get his way. Oh, and if "LE just isn't trustworthy" then why are you trusting them when they say he didn't have a gun? |
