Here we go....time for the monuments to come crashing down
Birmingham, Alabama, officials voted to look into removing a Confederate memorial Wednesday as tensions over symbols of the nation's racist history simmer over. The city’s parks and recreation board unanimously decided to have its lawyers examine the possibility of moving the monument from its 110-year-old home of Linn Park, a small downtown promenade. “At this point it’s in the hands of our legal department,” spokesman Stanley Robinson told the Daily News, noting it's the first step in giving the monument the heave-ho. The park itself is named after Charles Linn, a Confederate captain, whose name has been plastered all over city buildings, Matthews said. And the "appalling" monument features guns and swords as a nod to the country's past.
