played when helmets were two sizes too big, wore 10 dollar cleats and it cost 15 to join pop warner

coach used to say" put yer helmet right in the number"

played HS in the '80s.  never heard of tear away jerseys, but i definitely used stickum.

Same. I know we used spray-on stickum. I think it was made by Cramer, the creators of two of the great sports products: Cramergesic and Strawberry Ointment.
