i guess i never realized it was as high as $500. it looks like it has crashed and lost half its value earlier in the year.

It crashes whenever the FBI or some other .gov agency busts the darknet/TOR drug market that's popular. Or whenever one of the bigger exchanges gets hacked.
BTC is no less "real" than the FRN's in your wallet or bank as far as I'm concerned. |
