Investing in Bitcoin seems even more crazy than having faith in fiat currency to me. I have been buying silver since it was on its way down from ~$31 and will buy all the way back up to atleast $30. Buy at regular intervals even if it's just a little or you will be grasping Bitcoin (air).

The volatility of bitcoin is what gets major attention. The high upswings is what got people interested in buying into it. Fortunately the volatility is what scared me away from it. I would have loved to be in before the big boom but I knew better than to get in after.

I was just wondering about our bitcoin millionaire the other day. Hopefully he got out in time.

It was over a $1000 at one time. An ARFcommer got rich off of it by mining for bitcoin. had something like 27000 bitcoins when he cashed out at $650 per over a year ago. Said bye to ARFcom and everything.

He said he had a set sell point ($650) and new it would go higher but wanted to cash out while it was a seller's market.

Like winning the lottery. You just disappear to keep people from harassing you to death and running scams on you I'd guess.

He started threads about jumping in early on Bitcoin when they started it up (2009 IIRC). Had a history of posts about it for four years here with links. I believe it happened. It was a plan. He stuck to it. I'm impressed.

How are they pulling that one off?

I remember reading somewhere that bit coins had a record of who has owned them and when they were transferred. Could the feds be pulling the bit coins that were used for some kind of black market sales? Maybe some kind of IRS shennanigans? Or what?

I don't know much about this bit coin thing, but it always struck me as somehing that will have a sudden and abysmal end.

A few of the main bitcoin banks/market houses got hacked/shutdown early 2014.
I was late getting into mining. Started mining Litecoin in Nov 2013, but made a decent amount after paying for hardware.

So much for the 4th Amendment. The gov's habit of using civil forfeiture to fatten its coffers ain't helping much either.

That was my reason I never got in, I had no idea if I'd ever be able to cash out, or even how to do it.  Wish I had.  I vaguely remember Bitcoin being a thing in 2007, I think it was.

It is crashing as it has even less substance than the US Dollar.

I will lean back and enjoy the coming crash to zero
