Since nobody else brought it up...

Today in history was the start of the Revolutionary War. Some will argue that it began in Concord, MA or in Lexington, MA. But the point is that it started on this date. The British were going to confiscate a stockpile of weapons in a farm house.

Imagine what would happen today. The way things are going, MOST people would let the gov't take the guns in return for  more social (in)security or free prescription drugs. The hell with the guns, after all, is it all that bad to be

Personally, I was not aware of this day until I heard it on the radio (WSB am 750, Atlanta). But I got to tell you, those folks years ago had a lot more guts than most people have today.

Just something to smoke on. Thank God for those patriots. I hope thier efforts were not made for nothing.

April 19, 2001

Patriots Day, April 19, 1775 - Massachusetts, when an unordered 'shot heard around the world' began the American Revolution. This is now commemorated as a victory for the forces of liberty, as it did turn out to be the beginning of a revolution; which gave us a republic. It could have gone in many other directions. It is impossible to know the thoughts; which actually brought about this revolutionary action.

" the communal revolution started with the popular initiative of March 18, inaugurates one new era of experimental, positive, scientific policy. It is the end of the old governmental and clerical world, militarism, officialism, the exploitation, agitation, the monopolies, of the privileges, to which the proletariat owes its serfdom, the fatherland its misfortunes and its disasters. We, citizens of Paris, we have the mission of achieving the modern revolution, broadest and most fertile of all those which illuminated the history. We have the duty to fight and overcome! "

A delegation, made up partly of anarchist sailors, demands suspension of the war against Russia, the return of the ships to France, & no disciplining for their actions. In Sébastopol, French officers massacre participants in a demonstration to prevent them from fraternizing with the mutineers. Despite the promises of the officers, the mutineers (such as Alphonse Sauveur Cannone; see 15 February) are treacherously arrested & receive from 10 to 20 years of prison.
