How annoying that Pam Geller's trying to eulogize someone from a part of the world that she consistently berates as being backwards.

Also interestingly enough, the PKK and other workers parties that are fighting for the Kurdish held regions in Syria and Iraq are rooted in Marxist and Communist ideology... Curious how much right wing ideologues like Geller can write something positive about one without having their head explode...

But other reports suggested Ozalp, also known as Diren –which means
"resist” in Turkish, never left the northern Syrian town of Jezaa, which
is still under the Kurdish control, according to International Business Times.

Anyone have a link from a credible source?

The article hints it got the info from the BBC but BBC has nothing.

International Business Times reports it cannot verify the info, and both reports say there is conflicting info that she never left the Kurdish controlled area.

"However, other sources suggested that Ozalp never left Jezaa in northern Syria, where Kurdish forces are still in control.

IBTimes UK could not verify the authenticity of the report on her suicide, which also appeared in many Turkish media outlets such as Radikal, and was confirmed by pro-Kurdish politicians of Turkey's BDP party."

International Business Times UK

Sad if true but my guess is its propaganda.

these groups go back to the cold war and were marxist/communist mostly in order to receive soviet aid; they weren't going to get any help from us against NATO-member turkey. Used to be that adding "revolutionary worker's army" or some shit to the name of your militia got you a case of AKs and a free t-shirt

Wondering this as well, and tagging for update/confirmation of original story.

If true, very sad, and as another reply noted, "she chose correctly" albeit tragically.

Do not let these people capture you.  Period.

Very sad.

Also shows what we're up against with these kind of people where suicide is favorable to being captured. Think about that.

This is ultimately what a society where the majority is becoming a bunch of overweight, lazy, socialist people who's feelings are paramount have to face.

Tough decision to make, but a courageous one in the end. To die ON HER OWN TERMS was better than to die at the hands of her enemies.

Personally; I would help the Kurdish Peshmerga by arming them and provide them with air support and intelligence. They seem to be the only ones with a defined plan and actually fighting ISIS rather than put their underwear on a stick and run away, like the Iraqi Army has done time after time (once in 1991, again in 2003 and thrice in 2014).

I dunno how many of you agree with me, and I don't care. The Peshmerga is out gunned and outnumbered by ISIS, and yet they still fight and giving them a run for their Dinars.

And that will be our downfall...

Not everyone in this country is willing to sacrifice their comfort and safety in order to defend it. THey would prefer someone else do the dirty work while they go to the mall or the coffee shop.

The warrior caste is an endangered species and if it were up to the socialists and moochers amongst us, they would happily eliminate us.

Fine people like this are dying because we fail to help the right people.

How many billions are we giving to Iraq, only for them to turn tail and run, leaving brand new M777s for ISIS?

But these folks are lucky to get MREs from us if anything.

Are you being serious?  Stories like this make you think that it is a precursor to events that will dwarf the casualties of WWI and WW2 combined?  That's not even including the Korean and Vietnam war, plus all of the wars / acts of genocide that US wasn't even involved with.

If anything, the world is more stable now than it has been in a while.  The major world powers are pretty much settled into place and are going to do everything they can to avoid some WW3 scenario.  This bullshit in the middle east has gone on for thousands of years and is not going to change much in the next century, but there is nothing even remotely close to making me think it will cause anything near even the ~40 million deaths in just WW1 alone.

The internet has allowed access to instant news that we have never had in the history of the world.  You can literally sit on your couch and watch a civil war in Ukraine in real time.  The world has always been in this much turmoil, often times much more.....most American's wouldn't have even been aware events like these were happening 30-40 years.  Hell there wasn't even a 24 news network / cycle then, let alone the internet and smartphones.  Most people watched the evening news and that's what....30 minutes with commercials?  Throw in the local morning paper and that's the extent of knowledge most were exposed to.

I  am a firm believer, that the internet bringing so much information available to people at the click of the mouse has slowly made it seem like the world is burning around us, when the fact of the matter is that it's always been like this or much worse, we just weren't intimately aware of every single thing and watching people fight civil wars from go pro cameras in real time.

Can you imagine if GD existed during the cold war / cuban missile crisis, pearl harbor, Hitler / Lenin, etc....?  Holy fuck, we would have wanted the world nuked 7 fucking times over.
