After the election if the GOP wins the Senate majority the sitting Democrat Senators have nothing to lose since Reid nuked the filibuster rule on judge nominations. The loser Democrat senators can show their true colors and vote to confirm Mumia Abu Jamal if they wanted to do so.

The winning Democrats would probably bank on their majorities/voter forgetfulness to get a Fellow Traveler like Holder in on SCOTUS.

Holder didn't bail on the AG position for SCOTUS. He did it to avoid being prosecuted for F&F. He learned a valuable lesson from Hillary Clinton.

Him being on SCOTUS will not happen. I'm 99.9% sure of it.

Bailing on the position doesn't absolve him from criminal charges and prosecution. All is does it lose its sexiness and spotlight.

If the Democrats can strengthen their majority in the Senate I think that would be a possibility, but if their majority weakens or they lose control of the Senate this Administration would be in for a serious challenge during the confirmation hearings that would greatly weaken it politically. So, Obama would really need to be willing to go to the mat and effectively end his presidency for Holder...not sure if he is willing to do that. I think at the end of the day Obama only thinks of himself.

Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah, ranking Republican on the committee, disagrees with some of Ginsburg's positions, particularly on abortion, but said he felt sure that she is "unlikely to be a liberal judicial activist."

all you guys saying that he wouldn't get confirmed are missing the point.

if you want to push something through that you know your boss will hate, you first bring him something that he'll hate even more. then you make your real play after he has already exhausted himself yelling at you about the first thing. holder will be the first thing.
