OK, I'll be upfront here and admit that I have NO idea if this 'site is legit (I found the story
surfing at work yesterday and don't know shit about "The Washington Free Beacon") Anyway, I thought it was pretty funny (Especially the way the story was coached as far as asking if 'obese teenaged girls lack the "social skills" that their hottie peers didn't'...lol). http://freebeacon.com/issues/feds-wonder-why-fat-girls-cant-get-dates/ Oh, BTW, this study is running us about $500,000. "The National Institutes of Health (NIH) awarded a $466,642 grant last week for the study, which will examine whether social skills have an impact on why obese girls have fewer dating experiences than their less obese counterparts." I'm gonna go out on a limb here (I KNOW!) and hazard a "guess" that it might just be something else? |

Considering the government spent 3 million to study lesbian obesity I wouldn't be surprised if this was true.

PUBLIC HEALTH RELEVANCE: Studies have consistently shown that obese adolescent girls engage in more sexual risk taking behaviors compared to non-obese girls. Few studies have examined the mechanisms underlying this association. Using secondary data analysis of data from two large, longitudinal cohorts of US adolescent girls, this application proposes to examine whether differences in the development of interpersonal social skills or differences in the intimate relationship experiences of obese and non-obese girls explains the higher rates of sexual risk taking among obese girls. View Quote It takes a half million dollars to understand why obese girls are desperate for male attention? |

This is a legit grant by the way. You can search this award number (R01HD079419) here, and check out the project leader here. Dr. Akers applies her methodological clinical research expertise in secondary data analyses and qualitative research methods to examine parent-adolescent communication about sexual health in family and community, particularly in undeserved populations. |

I didn't think we were allowed to make fun of fat chicks in GD. Everyone else is fair game but fat chicks. Cause they get offended easily.

All part of the push to make obesity "normal". Who needs self respect and a healthy body. The US is so screwed- just like a fat chick with the promise of a KFC bucket of fried.

View Quote yup...as a former fattie myself (250+ for an 8 year period, currently 189 and 15-20% body fat), I can say that unless you have a physical disability that prevents you from moving, or some other medical issue, there is simply no excuse for being fat other than laziness and being a pig when it comes to food. I am now constantly being told that I am too skinny, losing too much weight, etc...that is not really the case, it's just that everyone is just so used to seeing fat Americans. |

Fat chicks do get dates or at least get laid.
One thing I have learned over the years: If you are female; no matter how fat you are, no matter how ugly you are, no matter how filthy you are, no matter how crazy you are, no matter how much of a drug and alcohol addiction you have, no matter where you live, no matter how many kids you have running around........................................... There is some guy trying to knock the bottom out of it, and she is probably cheating on him with at least one other guy trying to knock the bottom out of it. She could be 450 pounds, and stink and somebody will be trying to hit it. |

Government is full of academics, not rational people. Therefore grants like this fund academic "research", creating more positions for academics. .Mil spending pisses off academics. Ergo. Anecdote: I'm flying with a Reserve F-18 guy who said the squadrons (active and reserve) have about 30% readiness due to .gov laying off the contract maintenance people during sequestration and not hiring them back (because they moved on). Now, a squadron can only cover the 5 hours in 90 days minimum currency requirement. How many mechs could we hire with all the bullshit money spent on grants like this? Once again, people will die because of Socialist politicians. TC |
