Reminds me of Colorado. I miss it. No work where I was. Winters weren't bad. Lots of sunny days.

Yeah, there is some wonderful landscape up there.
But the fuckin' winters up there are brutal! I'll stick with my AZ northern mountains and mild winters....

Is that Glacier National park? Ive spent lots of time around that area and would love to live there but not much work wise. Brutal winters are a small price to pay to live in that place and it helps keep the clowns from California away i'm sure.

Great photos. I stopped in Montana for a few nights on a motorcycle camping trip. It was my favorite state on the trip by far. The mountains outside of Missoula were great.
I want to move there, too, OP. I would go tomorrow if I could find work. Unfortunately, in looking at homes for sale, everything I found that I liked was either too pricey, or a hell of a fucking long drive from any potential employment. I lived in Alaska for a few years, so I think the winters would be fine, but the job market seems to make it a pipe dream for me for the time being.

That place has to be seen to be believed, almost to beautiful to comprehend. I could've stood there for hours just staring but no time, I had fish to catch. The winters are what keep that place from being overrun, like California has been. Only a million people in the entire state.

I just don't know where this comes from. I personally think the winters in Montana are pretty mild. If you want a cold winter, go to Fairbanks or Northern Alaska. Its a little chilly up there. As for Montana though, mild winters in my opinion. Of course you live in AZ, so you might be a little biased. 
OP: Whatever you do, do not come to Montana without a job. Unemployment is a reality in western Montana, so please have employment lined up, that is unless you're independently wealthy.

My only really complaint about MT is they have some retarded CCW restrictions(no carrying in most restraunts, banks) though it would probably be a huge upgrade for a CA person.

I make $16 an hour. I've been trying to find a better job for over a year. I could probably make $75-$100 an hour in California or out in the oilfield. |

give me volcanoes and clear saltwater beaches and mild temps and I'm in heaven. Northern paradises really are for young guys.

What part of montana you in? Last year we had -40 degrees for weeks with winds upward of 60 mph. It finally quit snowing though, which allowed me enough time to get the tractor started and start plowing the snow drifts. |

Nice pics!
Lots of threads about MT, ID, WY etc. lately. Most of the people I've run into made their money or most of it in some city in another state. They retire a few years early and move permanently to either what was their summer cabin/house or find a new place. When they get too old and need to be closer to medical care etc. they move back into or near a larger population center. ymmv |
