A brush fire destroyed more than 100 acres of woodlands in Foster Township on Friday, threatening about 12 homes atop Autumn Mountain.

"The fire jumped the road on both sides at one point," Spock said. "We saved all the homes."

Excellent

Have you taken steps to harden your home against wildfire? If not, go to YouTube and use the search terms "firewise triage defensible space"

Keep that in mind next time they're under attack by council members and mayors.

That's precisely what we were thinking. Do you guys prefer raw foods or meals ready to go - such as lasagna type food items?

Yep, stack of pizzas, bag of burgers, bbq or if you're felling really generous, a couple of fresh steaks.  Not a house in our county that doesn't have a grill.  They'll figure out the sides.

Looks like you had decent defensible space and that helped save your home. It is not a good feeling when your doing structure triage for a approaching wall of flame and have to say "well, they didnt clean up their yard for 10 years, not much we can do, this one will burn on to the next house". Anyone who lives in the Wildland Urban Interface should look at this pic for motivation to do a fall and spring cleanup at your home. Glad you, your family and your home are safe OP.

Either.  As stated we'll figure it out.  Make sure you get it to the houses and shift that came out.

Glad your home was saved. Amazing the woods would be that dry with all that snow 3 or 4 weeks ago.

Just make sure your dues are paid up, otherwise they let it burn.

After the Monument fire down here, people were bitching that the firefighters bulldozed their expensive landscaping.

The firefighters showed them pictures of the first 70 (IIRC) homes and structures that burned.

There wasn't much more bitching after that.

Holy crap! That was WAY too damn close. I would sure be grateful to the firefighters, as well. Talk about 'the nick of time'.

I 'm glad you dodged to bullet, as it were.

Steaks sound appropriate to me. They have gotten pretty damn expensive, which will make them appreciate it all the more.

First responders are the closest thing we have to real superheroes, IMHO.

Get together with your neighbors and have a picnic or cookout for the firefighters.
