Destructive hail up to the size of baseballs are probable with the strongest storms. Storms will continue to develop over the next 90 minutes and push eastward this afternoon.

My wife was driving back down from Wichita Falls and said it was quite a sight to see looking out her left window across the landscape.

This was her first time outside of the big cities in Texas and she had quite an enjoyable drive, her being a country girl from the Blue Ridge

I saw that cell on radar when she asked for a range and direction call on it.

It amazed her how far away it actually was. (fifty miles east when she was between Bowie Decatur)

She had never been out and about on the road in the great wide open spaces of the West

Fully enjoyed her 48 hours there, was like a breath of fresh air dealing with polite, open, sincere people instead of the tools she usually interacts with daily north of I70 and east of the Mississippi

The National Weather Service in Fort Worth has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
southern Dallas County in north central Texas...
northern Ellis County in north central Texas...

* until 445 PM CDT

* at 347 PM CDT...National Weather Service meteorologists detected a
severe thunderstorm capable of producing ping pong Ball size
hail...and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. This storm was
located near Midlothian...moving northeast at 40 mph.

* The severe thunderstorm will be near...
Glenn Heights...DeSoto...Red Oak and Duncanville around 355 PM...
Lancaster and Palmer around 400 PM...
Ferris around 405 PM...
Hutchins and Wilmer around 410 PM...
Balch Springs around 420 PM...

This will impact I-35e between mile markers 400 and 421.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

For your protection move to a sturdy shelter until the storm has
passed.

If you are caught outside...seek shelter in a strong building and
stay inside...away from windows until the storm has passed.

Tornados scare the living shit out of me. Having grown up in southern Indian and northern Illinois every spring we'd have severe storms. If you drew a cross in the middle of these tornado tracks that would just about land where I called home.

Even though we were special enough to get mentioned twice in the warning, non event here. Some vertical rain, a few pea sized pieces of hail, then it blew right past us and we're under blue skies again.
