I thought to myself as I read this "wow, this is being posted a little soon, Christmas is pretty far off".

Then I looked at the calendar.

Crap.  I guess I should get started on that Christmas shopping.

lol they have been doing this for years.

My dad has reel to reel recordings of the event going back to his deployment to Vietnam,
radar interference and all. via armed forces radio.
It's kind of neat to hear to all the military commercials too. One of these days ill have to transfer then to CD

This is cool.  Several years ago, we were up late on Christmas Eve while watching the news and trying to calm down the little ones after we let them open their one present before going to sleep.

When the news guys told the story in perfect detail with straight faces, my little skeptics suddenly became true believers.

I think it went something like this:

Here is a late breaking story from North American Air Defense Command Headquarters in Cheyenne Mountain Colorado:  The NORAD commander, General Jack D. Ripper, reports a high-speed UFO flying south from the north pole.  Apparently this UFO is described as a jolly fat man with a white beard, wearing a red suit and riding in a sleigh pulled by eight reindeer.  He reportedly has with him a large sack of toys and has been heard saying, "Ho-ho-ho!  Merry Christmas to all and to all, a good night!"  He has been tracked to the east coast of the United States and is reportedly heading west at this time.

I actually worked this at NORAD last year.  You need to hit the web site, and if you have kids,
E-mail  NORAD at [email protected], or call 719-474-2111 or toll free at 1-877-Hi-NORAD after 9AM Eastern Standard Time (7AM Mountain Standard Time) on the 24th of December. The videos on the web site are updated hourly until midnight, and the phones are manned all day.

We received calls from all over the US and some international calls as well.  It was an absolute joy to talk to all these kids wondering where Santa was.  Highly recommended!

If you have any questions on the details of how this works, just let me know.

Do they send a few B-52s his way to help out with the load? After all, reindeer need a break too.

Not B52s, but I understand Santa's as fond of the new C-17 as the Air Force is!

Any updates on the site regarding how the Stargate is performing these days? I'm curious.

It is noradsanta.COM.  I copied the email address directly from the web page.

The Stargate is still working.  There's some highly classified (but leaked) video footage out there, I keep seeing it on the SCI FI channel.  Of course, I can neither confirm nor deny the accuracy.....

I hope Santa's IFF is working this year....

Edited to add:  I just noticed Santa's reindeer are down by six in the picture.  Looks like someone's having venison steaks tonight!

Latest position for the Fat Boy in Red:

Just spotted over China, after visiting Australia and Japan.

The link below has the radar screen--it can be hard to find on the web page (I personally don't think a couple of their links are working.)
