Unusual bird photographed in Venezuela - it's called a Potoo and is normally not seen during the day.

Looks fake.

Wild bird lets people within a few feet of it?

Fake as hell.

Not fake, look 'em up on Wikipedia.   During day they perch at the top of a branch or stump and camo themselves as part of the tree.

Pretty fascinating stuff - and creepy

Fuck it, right?  You have to be, like, on the internet or something to search and see if it's real or not.

Obviously they aren't afraid of people, right?  Because the people in the photos are within feet of the bird.

Edit:  Why should I waste my time and look things up.  You just did it for me.

Looks like the result of generations of inbreeding and if left to its own devices would prefer generations more of inbreeding.

My second thought was "I've never seen one of those before..."

My third thought was "No wonder I've never seen one before, neat."

My fourth thought was "I wonder whats going on in another thread..."

Is it just me or does that thing look like it was flying and accidentally impaled itself on the part that holds the barbed wire apart.

There should be about 3" more of that thing and it just disappears into it's chest. That would explain why It cant fly off. Looks like it's dieing.

This one probably ate something funky in the jungle and is tripping balls.

Most of the other pics of potoos show them with yellow eyes, but this one looks like his pupils are fully dilated.  Very strange for a nocturnal bird in the daytime.

Yea if you look at the last pic, the other posts do not extend that far.

Upon review, I think your right. They don't go as far past that third strand as I thought.
