As many of you know, my wife and I are building a log cabin. We are getting to the point where we will be finishing the inside. We want to use deer antlers for various trim items such as drawer pulls, paper towel holder, TP holder, light switch cover plate trim, etc. I have hunted deer all my life and saved the antlers, but I do not have nearly enough to do this. Obviously I don't want your trophies, but a buddy suggested I try this as lots of guys cut the antlers off and just toss them in the shed and don't care about them, but don't throw them away either. If anyone would be willing to part with them, any size, any shape, etc. I would be most grateful. Please e-mail or IM me and we can figure something out. I have no idea if there is a market for small ones, and what they would be worth, but I will pay whatever a fair price is, plus shipping costs. Again, any size will be useful, even spikes. Thanks!!

I use whitetail antlers for a lot of projects myself ,I have the name and info for a taxidermist that supplies antlers of all types.
He's in new york state and he is reasonable and pretty fair.
He has Moose and whitetail and Elk,just about anything you could want,pelts and skins at a good price too.
I'll find his number for you tomorrow,make sure you bump this up to remind me,or send me an e-mail if you want.
I also have some tips for you if you're thinking about making your own antler chandeliers or lamps.
Here is a simple mount for one of my large Bowies that I used whitetail antler for.

Great site!! I bookmarked it. I have hunted sheds for years and have found a few. I honestly had no idea how many projects the wife can think up that uses antlers. Now she wants to trim the bathroom medicine cabinet with them and that takes a bunch. If you look in the catalogues where they sell this kind of stuff, they cost a fortune. They do provide good ideas though. I am amazed how many it takes to do things, even after you cut them into smaller pieces. Thanks, guys, for the responses.

Edited to add: Jrzy, that is gorgeous!! I hope I can do half as well. So far, all my screw-ups we just call "rustic." hehe [:D]

Thanks Beekeeper,here's the Moose antler bowie and mount since you liked the first one,also the guy in NY state that sells the antlers is really cheap ,the best I found so far.

Man, jrzy, too cool. I like the t&g wall too. I'm almost at that point, so I notice walls everywhere--especially knotty ones. Bowies have always fascinated me. I saw one a year or so ago that Chuck Hawes made out of his damascus steel--very beautiful.

Hey Mike,

I have a perfect 10-point skull I found in the woods, the antlers werent even gnawed on! I also have one side of a 10-point that shows "a little" gnawing.

You can have 'em...at least pay shipping...

Man, oh, man--that is similar to what I have in mind. I greatly appreciate the ideas. I bought several thousand bucks worth of 8" t&g pine. Half will be used for the ceiling, and that leaves a bunch for walls. I'm trying to find weathered barn boards for some too, in the basement. They bulldoze them down and burn them, but I can't seem to find any. I've got time to keep looking, so will do that. I'll get some eventually. Very nice work, jrzy. As I'm attempting to do something similar myself, I especially appreciate what it takes to make things look so nice.

Yes and it takes high caps,what should I keep in the bathromm a 1500 dollar Les Baer? LOL
My bedroom gun is high dollar,but for the bathroom I thought the Ruger was a good choice,it's reliable and holds 15 rounds.

I'd contact some contractors that build in Aspen (or Breckenridge, or Steamboat), and ask about where they buy their ubiquitous antler chandeliers and furnishings. (Couch the inquiry however you want.)
From there, maybe you'll find the suppliers?
May or may not be worth an investigation: just an off-the-top idea.
Also, deer "farms" or petting zoos?
I dunno. . .
