My better half arose at 4AM this morning, to get in line for the early bird specials at stores that opened at 5AM, as she has done every year since I've known her. I think that's crazy, but I have to admit she does very well Christmas shopping every year. A few years ago she drove to Santa Monica to get in line for a furby, all the rage that year. One year it was Tickle Me Elmo. This year it seems the matchbox sized RC cars are in.
Christmas shopping sometimes brings out the worst in people. She has seen people lift items from a person's cart when their back was turned, fighting over things, making a mess of the displays, cutting in line, and just general rudeness, and that's not to even mention parking lot madness. "Tis the season," as they say.
Actually, she does much of her Christmas shopping throughout the year, and she keeps the boxes in her closet until it's time to be wrapped. She has forgotten what she bought on occasion, discovering a well-hidden box with someone's present in it after the holidays are over. Oh well, there's always birthdays and Christmas next year. All in all she's a smart shopper though.
So here I am, home with the kids, while she's out shopping. As for me, I'm a last minute shopper, except for stuff I order online. The internet is a godsend IMHO.
Okay, let's hear your crazy Christmas shopping stories. Do you get your shopping done early or are you a last minute shopper like me?
