Aside from the lower....how much to put together a reasonable quality .308 AR (preferably one that takes relatively common mags of some variety...Magpul?   FAL?)?

You can get complete AR15/M4 rifle kits for about $400 to $500 (PSA specials, etc.)....

Thanks!

I don't know personally.

I only have one .308 AR and it is all Armalite.

Won't ship to NY.  Didn't they learn that shops are all like, "GFY, AC.  Here's an AR with an ugly stock, or locked mag.  We're sellin' them again!" in NY?

I'd say an upper for about $700-800 plus sights, LPK is about $100, and add a stock kit.

Maybe $1200-1300 for an Armalite build.

.308 is not as cheap as a 15 to build and all parts are not interchangable.

Part # comes up as a B lower so it takes the Armalite Metal M14 mags, Not P-Mags.

I only have Armalite magazines for this lower.

Not sure if any other models work well with this lower?

ETA:  I went with LarryG's advise on all of this and bought an upper from him to complete the firearm.

He said get Armalite magazines and that is what I did.

Every step of the way, Larry's advice was spot on.

Ah......so the "B" lower won't take other magazines.

Thanks for the info.

EVERYONE READ THE PART IN RED BEFORE ORDERING.
