So, any bets on when US, China and Japan clash for real? "guided missile cruiser USS Cowpens, which recently took part in disaster relief operations in the Philippines, was confronted by Chinese warships in the South China Sea near Beijing’s new aircraft carrier Liaoning"
"the run-in began after a Chinese navy vessel sent a hailing warning and ordered the Cowpens to stop. The cruiser continued on its course and refused the order because it was operating in international waters. Then a Chinese tank landing ship sailed in front of the Cowpens and stopped, forcing the Cowpens to abruptly change course" http://freebeacon.com/chinese-naval-vessel-tries-to-force-u-s-warship-to-stop-in-international-waters/ Kudos to the Commander and crew of the Mighty Moo! Next question, why is there a ship named after cow pens? |

A Revolutionary war battle took place in a set of cow pens. That is where the name came from.

we should have nuked them when they rammed our EP-3.
or at least bombed another of their embassies. |
|
This is not a big deal. We used to play this game with the Soviets all of the time. |
|
So what? Any navy would do the same to a vessel approaching one of their carriers. Or worse.
Heck, especially when it's your learner permit carrier and you know it's doomed anyhow. STAY BACK! OK? Just gimme room, I got this... |
|
Don't worry, in the next president election the Chinese government will make a large contribution to the democrat party and have control of any area they wish...

Tarleton’s men from the Royal Artillery, 17th Light Dragoons, 7th Regiment (Royal Fusliers), 16th Regiment and 71st Regiment were reliable and good soldiers |

It's shocking all the pilots here who can't even remember the simplest laws of the seas.
The law of gross tonage comes to play in most situations. I dare say that the Chinese carrier was the larger vessel and therefore the USS Cowpens is required to yield the right-of-way. Day one shit in any skipper's course. Additionally if the Chinese carrier was in restricted manuevering/flights ops flying the "get the fuck out of my way day shapes", again all vessels are required to yield. Ball/diamond/ball ... better you move ya'all. |

Sounds like the current generation of USN skippers are going to get to relive the fun and games the 6th Fleet had with the russian fleet in the Mediterranean during the cold war.
What's that line... Meet the new boss, same as the old boss... Something like that. -Gator |

Red China's Navy has been bullying Vietnam, Taiwan, and Japan for awhile now.
China is a powder keg waiting to explode. |

China still has a very long ways to go if they want to get into a fight with USN and have the expectation to be anything other than annihilated.

Now, don't get me wrong, fuck the Chinese with a flypaper covered dildo, but we basically pulled the same stunt as the fuckwit who walks around public areas with an AR15 strapped to his back or teh gay rights guy who runs up to hug children while wearing a banana hammock, leather chaps, and a smile. Would one of our carrier groups let a chinese destroyer fuck around in their midst? Would one of our carrier groups let a Chinese Destroyer within 5NM of them? |

Needs more Admiral Willis Lee.
http://neveryetmelted.com/2007/08/31/stand-aside-this-is-ching/ FWIW, this is just the right scenario for a modern battleship. Not one of those Chinese vessels could have survived a ramming from a battleship. The article is wrong in one respect. Admiral Lee had little to do with training the crew of the Washington. Her first sea captain was old school and drilled the crew relentlessly. The ship was a already fine tuned instrument by the time Admiral Lee came aboard. |

Being trade partners with Japan and China poses a tad bit of prob for Taiwan. They've been quite so far. A matter of time before China goes for Taiwan and theres a large 200 billion cubic meters gas field around these islands, not to mention strategic positioning. Anyone for Battleship game tonight? Or the movie? Bring in the USS Mighty Mo and few good 'ol vets... They took care of the aliens after all http://en.ria.ru/images/17625/49/176254910.jpg
