A group of 2,000 dead mice
equipped with cardboard parachutes have been airdropped over a United
States Air Force base in Guam in order to poison brown tree snakes.

It
may sound like the plot to an animated movie starring the vocal talents
of Gilbert Godfried, but we assure you this is actually happening.

NBC news reports that the dead mice were pumped full of acetaminophen, the
active ingredient in Tylenol. The hope is that the snakes, which are
invasive to the area and cause harm to exotic native birds and the
island's power grid, will be drawn to the toxic rodents, eat them, and
then croak. Other animals face minimal risk, reports the Air Force Times.

I'm sure this will work exactly as intended.

They've done this several times.  Too bad the damn snakes won't eat all of the territorial birds.

Never seen a wild snake that would take cold dead animals.  Have seen lots of other animals that will though.

They have discovered that these invasive snakes will actually eat dead mice, as they are over running the island. They also discovered that acetaminophen is toxic to the snakes. Little poison cluster bombs for the snakes.

8 million dollars?  Wouldn't it be cheaper to put out a bounty of say, 20 bucks a snake, and let the locals have at it?

Tylenol is not toxic to most animals, mainly just snakes.

The only time I've ever actually seen one of the damned things is when we went out of our way to find the USDA area where they work with them.

These days before planes are allowed to go to any US location from Guam they have to inspected by USDA dogs that search for the snakes.
