Ok here is what I'm looking for and who else to help but the hive!
 I'm wanting a 'mag bag' for my primary vehicles. It doesn't have to be ubber tactical. Something to just leave in the vehicles so they are there in case of an emergency. Not looking to spend $100 each either. and ............go.  |

If you want that size, I'd just get a camera bag. Less conspicuous. If you're running around a disaster area with something "tactical", cops WILL stop you and take it away from you. 
ETA: The strap has frayed and come off in Amazon's own photo! Go go China airsoft gear!

I am guessing at least 12 if you put them in right.
I keep a Glock 23C , holster, 5 spare mags and a spare box of shells, flashlight,pepper spray and a knife in it and there is plenty of room. |

I bought the Maxpedition active shooter bag with the magazine front,I had so many mags and boxes of ammo plus a CZ 75 in it was almost to heavy to carry.
I had to take some of the stuff out.  |

Surplus chest rig from Midway or any other site that sells 'em. IIRC I paid $18 for one in great shape in multi-cam from Midway. Three mag pouches, which can actually hold two mags each, couple of other pouches for a radio, pistol mags, whatever, and some molle attachments.
Yeah, I'm all HSLD like dat.... lol... Very nice piece of gear to have handy though. |

Look at one of these. I use one for a range bag and it has more than enough room. It's heavy duty and comes with a shoulder strap too.

 Its in the site store and holds 6 AR mags or pistol mags in the outer pockets, and then has a full inside area to fill up with first aid and multitools and other crap . I've got a few of them, one stays in my center console. they seem to be pretty decent. And only $28. |

I got a larue something or other bag. Works pretty good. Pouches for rifle and pistol mags. I forgot what I paid for it but I'm guessing there are cheaper similar options.

Not cheap but not bad, price-wise : RECON RIFLE BAG
It will hold 3 - 6 mags plus a few other essentials...I have one of the first generation ones for my "Get Home Bag". It goes everywhere I do and, other than getting kind of grungy, it has held up flawlessly for over 3 years. Remember, the problem with "cheap" is that it will likely take a shit on you when you need it the most. |

I was considering the BFG 10-speed Six-Pack, but like the look of that Olongapo bag too... Something like a generic backpack/book-bag/laptop bag/grocery bag/messenger bag really makes it easy to hump gear in a convenient and discreet manner though...

In a shtf cops may be searching or confiscating tactical looking bags. Def. will grab attention from people that know about such things when you might want to be unnoticed. I'd go w/ something like a laptop bag or cheap courier bag. I get a bunch free every year from trade shows. I would just get the cheap bandoleer linked above and stuff it in the bag w/ some water.

I use an Eagle Patrol Bandolier for a "grab and GO!" bag. Holds four AR mags and two Glock 17 mags securely. The pistol mag pouches will also hold something like a Surefire G2 or a multi-tool.
IIRC I paid around $30 for it. I think of it as a modern "possibles" bag or sorts... holds enough ammo to solve any realistic, and some unrealistic scenarios. I do admit it's not very low profile, if going unnoticed is your goal. |

And being a cheap item, it's a rather narrow strap. Not the most comfortable thing to carry around. Much more than what the EPB has and it's probably better to have a chest rig or plate carrier/vest with mag pouches attached. |

I love all the guys saying get a laptop bag, cops might search a tactical bag. Did you miss the part about how this is for carrying rifle magazines in case of an emergency? Maybe I'm way out on a limb here but I'm assuming if he wants to carry rifle mags in an emergency he is going to have a rifle, and that rifle will stand out to a cop way more than a bag with molle loops on it.

AR broken down in a tennis racquet bag. Magazines in a gym bag. Pair of too short white shorts, pastel polo shirt, white socks, white sneakers, wristband and headband. Maybe a sweater for added effect. Your disguise is complete. Unless you're a black guy.

I have never given much thought to civvy "bail out bags", although I do have a "BOB". I am of the opinion that they are for supplementing your basic load when you have to abandon your vehicle under duress (not that this is likely for me
). Thanks to this thread, I just ordered this. It has provisions for six rifle mags and three handgun mags. It comes with an insert for a holster that I probably will not use (I already have a pistol on me). I added an ATS pullout for a FAK, and a BFG Dapper for a light, multitool, etc.
Has any one practiced using the concept as the primary means of reloading their rifle? Was it a viable, although not optimal, method? Any solutions to make the concept more practical? Although this is really just a thought exercise for me, there are some that could use any info IRL.

 I posted a link to the USGI bandoleers earlier . The post was also intended to encourage some discussion on the application of bags of this sort. By discussing the application, you may get ideas on how to execute the concept inexpensively.
