As I covered in another thread by the time you factor in their hours of waiting, drive time, wear and tear on a vehicle, and gas to pick up ammo plus the internet listings, phone calls, drive time, and gas to meet the buyer, they are making about $7 an hour. Are you willing to spend half your day every day to make $7 an hour?
The buyers are clearly happy paying these guys for their own personal ammo delivery service. No different than tipping the pizza guy and pizza isn't a hard to find commodity. The people here bitching about no ammo crack me up. They are too cheap to pay for it, don't want to spend the time it takes to get it, and then cry like little bitches because they don't have any. Boo hoo, go join the FSA line with your "I want it without working for it attitude". There is still an ammo shortage. As such items will be hard to come by or expensive to get. Flippers aren't hoarding, that defeats the purpose of flipping, and flippers aren't forcing people to buy it. The demand for ammo still far exceeds the supply. |

Was in Walmart last Sunday morning picking up some arrows for the kids, spotted .22 ammo, about 10 bricks.
It was the AR tactical 1,200 fps CCI copper washed in 375 round boxes. $25 each, 3 box limit. ...yes, I got them. |

For every person that walks away perfectly content with his $200 bucket of .22LR there's probably a few walking away from shooting all together because they can't get ammo.

How are they still making a profit? You can assume that they are still making a profit because they are a still doing it. When they start to lose money, they will quit doing it. The Law of Supply and Demand is a Law, not a suggestion. |

Several of the LGS around me are still doing this... That or buying online and re-selling. I don't even go to them anymore, for anything. I buy online and save.

im all for making a buck but then i have a real life and job. Even at its height it wasnt worth the hassle imo and the prices have come way down but there are those that will waste their time for not much profit. You can only buy 3 at a time anyway so that compounds the waste of time factor.

One thought I had is that due to the scare, in addition to there being thousands and thousands of new rifles out there, there are also probably thousands of new shooters. It seems possible there are many who are buying ammo from the flippers who don't know that they are paying ridiculous prices.
And of course others are just desperate. |

I'm one of the newer shooters. .been shooting my whole life, but only fudd calibers liike 30-30 and 12 ga. I use Walmart prices as my benchmark so that I don't get ripped off, dont feed the gougers, and have some knowledge to haggle on.
I havent seen .22 at Walmart ever, mainly because I got my first 22 rifle in April 2013. I am having no problem finding it at the gun store or sporting good store though, but I'm paying .10 cents a round. I just don't understand why .22 or is the slowest to recover? |

I'll admit that months back I bought at panic level prices, but thankfully I was buying 22LR, not 223. So if I paid $60 for a $15 box, it's not that painful.
Given the level of buying going on for this long, it is really amazing that online ammo still goes so quickly. Given that online ammo will soon be a thing of the past in NY, I unfortunately have more buying to do. |
