My kids learn more life lessons from losing than they do from winning. We lost a soccer match to a team who was cheating (silly 10 y/o rules, but whatever) and we had to suck it up and deal with it. Kids learned a valuable lesson. Somtimes people are shitty, but you have to rise above it. |

I'm afraid I'd have been on my way to jail and the cop would have been injured. Hell, he'd better follow through and not just stand there and talk smack if he grabs my 13 year old, 6' 155# judoka maniac of a son or he's gonna learn some really nasty tricks from a really limber kid. Meh, this behavior goes on in kids sporting events all the time. Him being a Cop makes little difference. Kids and sports turn some perfectly normal adults into complete assholes. Seen it many times. At the end of the day it is supposed to be fun for the kids and hopefully they learn some valuable life skills.

I was on our soccer board for 11yrs.
We had parents threatening other parents and players. Players dropping F-Bombs over bad calls. Referees abandoning games due to parent behavior. Referees that could not run the length of the field. Moms telling me, they have to get alot of yellow and red cards...they're playing at a high level. In the end, our best teams went to the State Cup matches maybe once or twice. 3 or 4 kids got looked at for college soccer, none played Div.1. |

I am really dreading the start of the girls youth basketball. Some parents just go crazy. It really isn't even fun when my girls play certain teams. They usually do well. Zero losses last year and only 1 the year before, but it still takes so much away from the game. |
