Well as some of you may know, I got laid off a while ago.

A couple of days ago, they called me and asked me to turn in my equipment. I went down there to do so and collect my last pay check (all $23 bucks).

While I was there they asked me a few questions about some allegations that were made against me by another employee. Turns out they put me on the lay-off list because someone had told my supervisors that I had a weapon on duty (untrue and unfounded). I told them that he was a liar, and threw a fit in their office. After about 20 minutes of talking to them, they offered me my job back!!! They had decided to fire the person that had made the allegations, and put me in his shift!!!

So everything has turned out really great these past couple of days.

Just wanted to let you all in on the good news.[:D]

Well, I'm sure we're all glad that you got your job back. And we are. I have to say though, if they did that to you in the first place, WITHOUT hearing your side of things, I'd start looking for a new place to work. But that's just me.

Although I agree that you were treated shabily, any job is sometimes better than none.
AND, it's easier to find a job when you have one. [:D]

I second this sentiment, use discretion but definitely move on.......follow up on your opportunities elsewhere.

Well in defence of my company, I was also the lowest man on the Totem. When they sat down and decided on who they were going to lay off, they did it first by who had problems in their work record, and then by who was with the least seniority. So there were about 8 others who were layed off before I was.

About looking for another job, I am in the process of applying for the Border Patrol. In fact it was just this Tuesday that I had my Oral Board Interview. I have already completed my Written test, Application/Background check, and my Medical/Physical. This tuesday was the last hurdle. So I am just waiting around for them to make me an offer of employment. And as the fellas who did my Oral Board said, "If ya got this far, yer prolly gonna go the rest of the way. When Uncle Sam starts spendin money on ya like this (refering to the Oral Board) then they're gonna try and give ya a job."

So since I passed all the tests/interviews, all that needs to happen is getting my background check completed. But they told me that some applicants end up getting through the Academy before their background check even is completed.

So while getting my job back is great in the mean-time, my real goal here is to get an offer of employment from INS/Border Patrol.

But until then, gotta pay the bills somehow, right? [:)]

Now a word to the wise for one and all. There is an old attorney's saying that we should all adhere to:

There is no such thing as a deaf mute in prison!

It is what we say to others that always winds up getting us in trouble!

So, give every man thy ear, but few thy tongue - famous old porn star's saying.
