what range do most people sight them in at? mine were shooting pathetically low at 100 yards, I zeroed them to 100 because it was convenient that day, but was debating maybe zeroing at 50 or 200.....

5.56 rifle if that matters

I'm gonna say either the 50/200 yard zero or the 25/300 zero. I've got my MaTech rear BUIS setup on the old 25/300, then it has a setting to go down to 200 yards after you've zeroed at 25/300.

around 35-36 yards. That should get you a nice POI anywhere from like 25 yard out to 300

I hate folding sights, even worse I have 2 sets of Troys.

All of my front sights, both fixed and folding, were WAY off for the 50yd zero I use.
