the Willys Overland company has been defunct since sometime around when I was born (1947) if not before. A true Willys Jeep can be had, mostly from collectors of militaria, and will either cost an arm and a leg if comopletely restored, or only your left nut if in "restorable" condition....your other nut and leg will be used up in buying all the correct parts to complete the restoration.....
As usual Jim, if you choose to accept this mission and are killed or captured the agency will disavow any knowledge of your existance. |

My father in law still has the willy's he drove to high school. It's a 47' I believe, has an olds V-8 in it. I drove it 2 weeks ago, brakes are wooden, steering is like lifting 40 lbs dumb bells and it bounces like a super rubber ball, it was awesome!

My uncle had at least two Willy's Overland Wagons he let a scrapper take off his property when he was having the place cleaned up.
I wish I had known he was going to do that... |

Willis-Overland produced vehicles as an independent company until 1953 when it was bought by Kaiser. The name was changed to Kaiser-Jeep in 1963, which was bought by AMC in 1970 where the name was changed to Jeep...you can see where this is heading... AMC was bought by Renault in 1979, then by Chrysler in 1987. Chrysler was bought by Daimler in 1998, then by Cerberus Capital in 2007, then by by FIAT in 2010. So, Willis-Overland is still alive today as the Jeep division of FIAT-Chrysler. There is a company that was licensed by Daimler to produce Willis-stamped body parts, and has the right to call themselves "The Willis-Overland Motor Company: http://www.willysoverland.com/?gclid=COa7m6nHjLgCFTQOOgoddBoAzQ You can get a complete body-in-white, minus frame, for anything up to a CJ from them. |

I've looked a few.....they run the gamut from clapped out shit box to fully resto'd parade only vehicle. Prices rang accordingly.
I want one that falls in the middle, condition and price wise. |

I have one in my garage. 1947 cj2a. I have been working on restoration as time and funds permit. Rebuilt all the steering and suspension over the winter.
I am the third owner second owner was my dad. He bought it in 1955. |

Looks like it's time to get my 59 CJ6 out of the barn and back on the road. I know that it needs a carb rebuild, hoses, belts and tires replaced. Also, time for a new gas tank!
