Lauer [:X*] had a guest on this morning who is an expert in video game violence.  Actually, he's a scum sucking lawyer who would just LOVE to sue if the bad guy ever played a violent video game.  Anyway, not only does this shit bag specialize in video games, but, oh my god....SCOPED VIDEOGAMES!  YES, I KNOW ITS A SHOCKER, BUT VIDEO GAMES ENABLE YOU TO BE A SNIPER!  [:O]  He also said that ANYONE can learn enough about being a REAL sniper from video games to then turn that knowledge into real world shooting skills...more particularly, people killing skills! [sniper]

I know you're still in shock[:O], but there's more!  Apparently you can kill INNOCENT people (Felony 2?) in these games and be hypnotized by the slaughtering of innocents enough that, GASP...you will go on a sniper killing spree with your new found sniper skills!

YES YOU[:O], will have earned such little respect for human life that a mere $40 video game will enable you to kill moms, dads, kids and grandpas.  Even the most moral of any of you can succumb to this fate, even if your parents taught you good values and you never kicked the dog, microwaved or bonsai kittied the cat!

IT CAN HAPPEN TO ANY OF US.  Please, don't play video games, especially Medal of Honor, online on the Blueyonder servers, because you won't find me there!

In the meantime, I'm listing my guns for sale, since in the past, I've been known to have dabbled in video gaming and [:O] I'm afraid that every shred of my moral being could at any moment be shattered and I'll start using my video game sniper skills against cans and work myself into such a can killing frenzy that who knows what might happen next! [rolleyes] I shudder to think about this!

So lets all join together and lobby to ban these games since, in the end, none of us are really responsible for our own actions.

Matt Lauer is right on this one. I owe all of my current rail gun and plasma rifle skills to the game Quake. I usually go out on the weekends with my rail gun and hunt targets of opportunity. Before I leave the house, I always type in cheat codes so I don't run out of ammo, and cant be injured.

I can play Quake for like 3 seconds before a little message pops up in the left corner that says: Dolemite tried to put the pin back in.

I was taking a class once and had a conversation with a MD that had just completed reading Grossman's On Killing.  His overwhelming assertion after processing the book was that each mouse click a video game player performs was equivalent to one repetition of a trigger press.  Therefore, the First Person Shooter game's ultimate goal is to create First Person Shooters.

This is bullshit of course: Every time I click a mouse, I expect to be rewarded with porn.  Every time I press a trigger I think to myself, "Oh shit, there goes another 15 cents!"

You know what?  I think that if the US Government endorses these types of video game (can we say qualified immunity?), then I think we can safely assume that they do not believe it will lead to people killing people after playing the game.

Lets hope the news media catches onto the government "conspiracy" to create homeland terrorist "snipers."  Imagine them trying to make that story work.

Give the media a chance, though... they'll find a way to make the gov't the exception to the rule.  Just utterly sick how the media can twist and fanagle ANYTHING to HOW THEY WANT IT.

The cool thing about those weapons is that they vaporize the target and leave no evidence. Murder on the electric bill, though...

Their accuracy and range capabilities make these weapons among the most dangerous available today," the lawmakers said. "They can hit targets accurately one mile away and can inflict damage to targets up to four miles away.

This is a quote taken from a Reuters article from another thread.  This sort of misinformation is killing us.  I think the NRA needs to start airing commercials CORRECTING these disgusting articles and horrendous briefings given by ATF/FBI/Cop buffoons.  They are shitbags!

...that and pictures appearing in newspapers showing .223 cartridges at about 3 1/2" long and almost 2x the diameter and stating in the picture that it is to scale.  WTF?!

Personally, I'm ok with this!  If the public thinks that this is a monster cartridge, then they find out its a little pissant nothing caliber and basically the baby of the centerfire line up, won't that lead to the downfall of the credibility of the reporters and journalists?

Not to mention, there's no fucking chance that they will be able to ban a caliber like the 223.  It'd be akin to banning the 30/30.

Now taxing the ammo is another problem....

Maybe the should disband the Army.  Get this they actually PAY kids to learn how to kill.  How shocking is that, our own government is recruiting teenagers to become murderers, the horror.  Think of the children.

There is a big difference between a murderer and a soldier.
