I've always been a fan of carpet, not the shag kind, but nice and neat, and the curtains must match the drapes.
What say you? |

I think I am the first one to get this thread correctly. |

Hardwood floor, carpets you have replace. Hardwood, you just sand and refinish.
Not a chance in hell I'm sticking my face in a big, hairy thatch. I gotta be able to see what I'm working with. So, hardwood floors.
I redid my floor in my house with tile that looked like hardwood last year - very pleased and easy to keep clean.
I personally would rather have bare concrete vs wood floors, but thats just me. Tile is best imo, then carpet.
Depends on the room, but I like carpet much better. Warmer and softer to walk on.

In the context of this thread, I'm a homeless man lost in the desert for the years I can't even remember what carpet looks like.
hardwood.
and if you still need some carpet.... throw down a area rug. |
Quoted: Carpet is HIGH maintenance all the way around. Me say hardwood and tile.zero carpet in my house, so I say hardwood and tile |
Carpet if you want to have a constant problem with dust, inflamed allergies, and flooring that will always be dirty.
Hardwood everywhere except the kitchen and baths. Tile there. |

All natural the way God intended it. Wood floors in the house and au natural (maybe not shag though). A little trim doesn't hurt.
Hardwood looks nicer...but it's hard to keep clean, and makes the house louder. I prefer good high quality carpet.
Having had carpet for many years and now just recently getting hardwood, I prefer hardwood
is that shit real Lurch? |
Hardwood is easier to spit shine,a dense yet radiant carpet can be nice as well.Get both?
Hardwood.. You ever rip up old carpet and see what is under
it. You could put a garden in all the dirt. |
No carpet for me, thank you. I understand Hillery likes a nice carpet.

If I had my way, I would never have carpet in a house. Tile and hardwood can last for decades and still look new. Carpet will look like crap in 5 years.
Get the tile that is shaped like wood planks. Best of both worlds.
Hardwood, both literally in a house, and also, in the figurative way I think the OP is talking about.
Prefer hardwood, but if the carpet is short and cared for, I take no objection to it
Hardwood, polished every day, and a good lotion wax rubbed on every day.
Get hardwood and buy nice rugs to lay down wherever you want carpet to walk on. Looks a Hell of a lot nicer and whenever you want a new look just buy new
rugs. |
Carpet is good for bare feet. I like it in livin spaces like bedrooms.
Hardwood is easier to clean but still looks nice. It is loud and scratches at a sneeze.
I'm not sure exactly which of two possible questions was posed, so I'll go ahead and answer both.
After having ripped up the carpets in a bonafied neat-freak's house, and seeing the nastiness that was underneath, I will never buy carpet, and will rip out any carpet in a home I buy. Wood floors, with tile in water-prone areas is the way to go. Use area rugs in places where you want carpet. You can pick up a rug and take it outside for a good cleaning and sweep underneath it. When it gets too nasty, just throw the sumbitch out or use it in the garage or basement. As to how I prefer a lady's nether regions, well I like 'em about how I like the flooring in my house. Hardwood floors with optional area rugs for decoration. The wife keeps hers smooth. |
How could you not like a grouping of the words, "hard" and "wood"?
Hardwood FTW! |

I tile in my Kitchen and Bath room every other part of my house has Hardwood Floors

Although I prefer some type of vinyl flooring for the kitchen since dishes stand a better chance of surviving if dropped. You can never truly get carpet clean and the nastiest shit imaginable builds up underneath it. Hardwood with an oil finish will weather better and look better with the inevitable scratches. |
