I don't think you can do wrong with any watch from the Tag Heuer line. For the craftsmanship you get, any watch they make is a value.

Timex Indiglo white face big numbers. Water proof,Day/date,quartz movement,Backlit face,twistoflex band. $24.95 Wally world. Buy another when the battery goes dead rather than screw with it. Last one lasted 3 years![:D]

Both Sinn and Nomos watches offer superior movements and craftmanship for less than $500.
Also in the running would be: Revue Thommen Tutima Bulova |

To make a long story short, it wasn't. I have a small collection of watches, and my next purchase will be a Seiko Kinetic. I love Tags, but they have more fashion than function. My Dad is notorious for destroying watches, but the Tag I got him 10 years ago is still going. |

In my limited experiance I can recommend the Timex Iron Man, Casio G-Shock, and Seiko Kinetic.
I recommend you avoid the Luminox & Swatch brands. |

im hard on watches. For my graduation present, my father got me a solid titanium watch.

hmmm, dunoo about "best", but for worst value for the money, i nominate my Movado. Titanium case and bracelet, saphire crystal, no numbers, needs a battery every year. curently its sitting in the safe, dead...needs to go in for service again! ohh, yeah... its twice what you are looking to spend.

I like my Citizen Navihawk. Have had it for years with no problems. use it Diving pretty regularly as well as other things.

I also have one of these. Most bright at night. Not sure what is in these things, but it is supposed to glow steady for years. Pretty tough watch.

This is the closest I've been able to find to my watch. It is identical to this one, except mine only has the date, not the day of the week. I bought it in a Marine Corps Exchange in 1990 for $185. The damned thing is bombproof. |

Tritium won't fade away after a few hours or minutes like Luminova/Super Luminova will. Even though that Luminova stuff is environmentally friendly and may have one or two better attributes, me thinks tritium is the way to go. Just like the Luminox watch, I know my HK USP with tritium powered night sights is illuminated right now even though it resides in a darkened place. No jokes alright! How do I know that, easy. Just like how I know a falling tree in a forest makes a noise when no one is around to hear it. |

Well I would have to agree with Green Furniture Sinn or Nomos are excellent choices for craftsmanship and durability. Forget the A.Lange and Sohne. It's a little more than 500$, try their entry level watches for around 10k. Forget the Chase-Durer their crap. I doubt you'll see many people wearing the Sinn or Nomos unless they are watch enthusiasts. For another 100-200$ you could find a used Omega Seamaster or GMT. Sorry, I'm a watch and gun snob.

Some companies (Tag, Brietling, etc.) specifically warn against this because they [b]only[/b] sell to their authorized dealers. Anyone who has an inventory of these watches (more than 4, NIB) is probably either selling fakes or is a fence. Just my .02. |
