My Sparrow should be approved sometime this month (knocks on wood) and I need something besides my Glock AA kit to mount it to.
What says the hive? Should I buy a new Ruger 22/45 with a threaded barrel or should I buy a pac-lite upper for my Mk 2 that I have 7 or 8 mags for? Part of me likes the idea of a new gun for the safe, but then I'd have to stock up on new mags for it.
And "get both" isn't an option since I am saving for a Surefire mini.

What would you do?

I picked up a railed Ruger 22/45 with threads a while waiting for my .22 can.  It's a fun little gun.  100% reliable.

Get a Buck Mark.

Or go with the new Ruger 22/45.

Get both.

If money is a concern I would just swap for the threaded barrel because of all the magazines.

The threaded barrel from Tac Solutions is about as much as a new threaded Ruger.  That and it will need to be shipped and a transfer done from FFL.

I bought another pistol.

I bought a Ruger MkII and a Pac Lite for my suppressor (which incidentally is a SS Sparrow.) I'm selling it right now, actually.  I love it, but I'm just getting some money together for other stuff.

I got a threaded TacSol upper but that was a while back.  If I was doing it now I'd get that new Ruger.

I was in the same position.

I got a pac lite upper for a couple of reasons.

Cheaper than a new gun.

Same mags.

Nice rail mount - the pac lite, a Burris FastFire or similar small red dot, and a Sparrow is a tac driving, whisper quiet package.

I'd done quite a bit of work on my Ruger lower - new trigger, hammer and sear for a great trigger pull, and an extended slide release, so I wanted to keep that set up.

I like suppressed Ruger .22's

I just sent my 22/45 out for threading; figured $150 was cheaper than a new gun.  I was smart last summer, though, and picked up a Marlin w/threaded bbl.

The Pac lites are great, but keep in mind that it's an aluminum upper with steel liner insert.  I've seen pics of wear around the breech outside the liner.
