I was driving to work today and listening Beck on the radio. They were talking about how in NY they can no longer bring water out to your table unless you ask for it, and it's the law or so they say. I live in Indiana and we have some dumb laws here too but nothing that crazy. I just thought it might be interesting to see how different states have jacked up laws for guns or other items.
Indiana No liqueur sales on Sunday. (state wide) Gary Indiana has a city ordnance where you can not have a high capacity magazine in city limits nor can you have an assault rifle in your car. The kick to this one is if you get pulled over by a county cop and you have one of these items the county cop will call a Gary cop to come to the stop so they can write you a ticket and take the said item. Since it is only a city ordnance the county cop can not enforce it. No auto sales on Sunday (state wide) |

Don't you have statewide firearms law preemption? Just found it, you do. If what you are describing is correct, which I have my doubts, it is highly illegal

We can't shoot predators from a public road, or hunt them at night unless on private property.
|
|
Here in San Diego it's illegal to shoot jackrabbits from the rear deck of a moving trolley car.
|
|
No deer hunting with a rifle. I actually understand this reg in certain parts of the state, but to keep it in places like SE Ohio is just silly.
|
|
We can't hunt game animals with silencers. They passed a bill last legislative session I believe but i think it was vetoed. They got two this time, one for all big game and one just for wolves.

Not allowed to hitch your horse to a tree in some towns. An issue for the Amish, mostly.

Hey, in Texas, I can carry a gun and a bowie knife, but heaven forbid I carry an auto opening knife like my Protech/Emerson I own that gets used a lot.
Also, the blue laws are dumb. |

NH law does not specifically state that a background check is required when pistol permit is issued. As such, you can be in violation of the federal Gun Free School Zone Act by driving within 1000 feet of a school, a felony.

Our state has what they refer to as "individual licensure" to deal with the GFSZA. If you can possess a gun, you are considered licensed. Also, No CWP required to carry concealed outside the limits of a town or city, or logging camp, or if you are in on of those areas and engaged in an activity that people often carry guns for protection (hiking, waking the dog, ect.) Another good one is that the definition of a concealed weapon is "one one's person wholly or partially covered by wearing apparel." this means that in a purse or a bag of some type is not considerd a concealed weapon. |

VA/my homestate.
No shooting within 100 feet of a road. Possession of a switchblade is not illegal...but is considered prima facae evidence of intent to sell switchblades (a class 4 misdemeanor). It is illegal to burn brush in my hometown. |

Dude, I have a book called Crazy Laws. It has all these laws that are still on the books that were just never removed. For instance, in Virginia, it is not legal to have a bathtub inside your house. Also, when you buy land the government is supposed to supply you with 5(?) Pounds of nails for building.
|
|
Another good one, that actually has been repealed, is that it used to be illegal to transport a sheep unchapparoned in the cab of your truck and it was illegal for women to fish alone on Sundays and unmarried women to fish alone at all (I believe). Hell, we all know what fishing leads to...

No Short Barreled Shotguns in Indiana.... That's pretty jacked up.

A few more WTF VA laws:
Not only is it illegal to have sex with the lights on, one may not have sex in any position other than missionary. It is illegal to tickle women. It is legal for a man to beat his wife on the courthouse steps so long as it is before 8:00 pm. ( Stafford County ) It is also unlawful to drive by the same place within 30 minutes on Atlantic Avenue.(Virginia Beach) |

No magazines with a capacity more than 30 rounds unless it's an NFA weapon

Pennsylvania liquor laws. They may be in the running with Utah for fucked-up-ness.
Beer stores can only sell cases or kegs. Bars can sell six-packs and twelve-packs and somehow, sandwich shops can sell singles and mixed six-packs. Wine and liquor is only sold at state stores. If you want something they don't have on the shelf, too bad. It is illegal to buy in another state and bring it back. The employees at the state store are just another civil service job. I've never met a wine enthusiast who worked at a state store. Half of them don't drink at all. After the state 8% sales tax, you pay a 20% Johnstown Flood Relief Tax, which dumps straight into the state general fund. The State of Pennsylvania is the largest single buyer of wine and spirits in the world, yet I get shitty prices and a poor selection. The first liquor store over the border in NJ, DE and NY is always full of cars with PA plates. |

Not my state, but Missouri Executive Order 44, also known as the "Mormon Extermination Order", was an executive order issued on October 27, 1838 by the governor of Missouri, Lilburn Boggs. Boggs precipitously directed that "the Mormons must be treated as enemies, and must be exterminated or driven from the State if necessary for the public peace—their outrages are beyond all description".
In 1976, citing the unconstitutional nature of Boggs' directive, Missouri Governor Kit Bond formally rescinded it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Missouri_Executive_Order_44 Wow! At various times in our country, we have done some messed up stuff to our own citizens. Stuff like this further reaffirms our need to possess weapons for self-defense. |

FYI-
SCOTUS struck down most sodomy laws years ago. Even if they are still on the books they are unenforceable.

Until last July, you could purchase and possess a suppressor. However, it was illegal to shoot a gun with one attached.

Jacked up laws in IL? How about our gun laws. Every last one. Same for NJ... That said, there was a Town Ord that stated that m,y First Duty as a Cop when the fire alarm rang was to commandeer every horse in my view and bring them to the fire station to help haul the Fire Wagon and Water tanker |
