With everyone panic buying I'd imagine people are spending their "fun fund" on gear and ammo instead of training.

ETA: I guess the lack of ammo doesn't help either.

Biggest crimp (I would think) is ammo availability and price.

Eta: you got it on the eta.

You said it. There's no ammo to take the class with. All the unprepareds will burn through a $1000 worth of ammo in a day at gun show prices.

The last time I took a training class I used my own reloads when I take the next it'll be my reloads again.

I can't see myself taking a class at panic ammo prices.

Yep class, and optics are on the back burner for me, for a while

Business is great! It has never been better. We foresaw a repeat of 2008/2009 and put a huge percentage of our 2012 revenue into materials and supplies. We have everything people need to train at slightly below market rates, which is still a good margin for us. Since many other instructors often can not provide supplies, our attendance is up strongly as well. We have sufficient ammo to supply current participation levels through 2014, and we have resupply orders in the pipeline.

I heard some training classes are allowing the use of .22 conversions.

I contacted an instructor who I have taken classes with in the past. No reply, so not sure what that is about. But our state is completely fucked over so I'm guessing he is holding off to decide for himself. Ammo prices are a big reason many shooters have passed on classes.

This.

I almost cancelled my spot in a carbine course next weekend, but I was lucky to get a hold of 500 rounds.  I have ammo, but not enough to start blowing at the range.

Anyway, this ammo shortage was close to -- but did not -- stop me from going to a training course next weekend.

I hope this horrible crap doesn't put good people out of business.

I have 10 people on slate for an NRA Basic Pistol this Saturday. I'm hoping that I have enough ammo. I don't advertise and only do it for trust-able people I know and this is crazy.

I work as an armorer for a local full time instructor and he's been booked solid for months.

Some classes already used them for certain portions of the course.

Most if not all of the classes I am signed up for in 2013 are sold out and wait list only.

My classes are 2-4 times their sizes these days.  Mostly teaching CCW classes, but am ready to add at least 3 different classes this year.  So far, ammo hasn't slowed down the CCW classes.
