A suburban New York
newspaper that sparked an uproar among gun enthusiasts by publishing
names and addresses of residents holding pistol permits is now planning
to publish even more identities of permit-toting locals.

Further names and addresses will be added as they
become available to a map originally published on December 24 in the
White Plains, New York-based Journal News, the newspaper said.

The original map listed thousands of pistol permit
holders in suburban Westchester and Rockland counties just north of New York City.

Along with an article entitled "The gun owner next
door: What you don't know about the weapons in your neighborhood," the
map was compiled in response to the December 14 shooting deaths of 26
children and adults in Newtown, Connecticut, editors of the Gannett Corp.-owned newspaper said.

The next batch of names will be permit holders in suburban Putnam County, New York, where the county clerk told the newspaper it is still compiling information.

I am really getting pissed at those leftist assholes who simply think anyone who owns a gun is a criminal, evil or a bad person.

Their 'logic' goes no further than "guns are made to kill, thus if you have a gun, you want to kill people."

Have they no consequences? What in the fuck is wrong with these people?

They want the criminals to steal the weapons now that they know exactly who owns them. Then, said felons can do what they do and the newspaper can get the bloody story on the front page, thus completing their "circle of life". And, they get to tell all the soccer moms how horrible gun owners are.

There ya go.

I wonder how much more personal info bloggers will be able to dig up on the newspaper staff?

Screw public opinion, this is a civil rights issue. We need to stop playing defense in these types of instances and start going on the offense with posting personal info.

It's a game with them. They know the vast majority of gun owners aren't the crazies they like to make us out to be. They feel thay can do this shit with impunity, so they do. There really isn't any way to turn the table on them, without playing right into thier hands, and they know it.

They do this but yet would not do it to felons, child molesters or rapists living in the area....who would be considered a better neighbor?...a criminal or a lawfully armed citizen who has gone through the hoops to please the state and be issued a permit?

They will keep pushing buttons until they get a response, they are a demented group.  They have a mental disorder, they feel they can trample anyone's rights to move their agenda forward.  Right now it is disarm Americans, that is their ultimate goal.  This will blow up in their face, in fact it is starting now.  A Republican New York Senator is already moving to make this type of exposure of information illegal, and he has the votes in NY to pass it. Then watch the cowards scream their First Amendment rights are being infringed! Rags that Gannett operates will pay the price, continued canceling of subscriptions, refusal to advertise in their rags will put them out of business, and ultimately Gannett.  Getting in the gutter with them won't do it, hit them in the wallet, make publication of sensitive information illegal and prosecute them.  That will work.  Right now they are outing themselves as the ghouls they are, and their Socialist agenda.  The left wing has kicked a sleeping dog this time.

The Founding Fathers.. Oh, sorry, The Framers of the Constitution couldn't have possibly imagined modern means of mass communication.

They never intended for people and companies to mass distribute information. The first amendment only applies to spoken words. The government is the only one responsible enough to correctly use modern mass communication techniques.

The government should be the only ones able to distribute "legitimate information".

Ultimately New York State is to blame for this. Even stupid ass Illinois put a stop to this, legislatively.

The founding fathers would have also assumed everyone would own a gun and thus a map showing gun owners would be silly to them.

Set up an Occupy style protest outside their residence.  Get every aspect of their daily lives tracked and followed.  If accused of stalking, just state that you're making sure that they do nothing wrong.

Considering the battles that happened around here in regards to sex offender registries (liberals thinking they were "unfair"), one could surmise that liberals hold child molesters in higher regard then gun owners.
Wow, just wow...

Maybe follow their kids to and from school, the mall, movies, etc

I'm sure it would be bad form but would it be illegal to post the names & address of the paper staff along with a note stating these people do not own firearms therefore come one, come all thieves to their home where there will not be a threat of being shot by the homeowner?

And all this comes as a surprise?  For those who did not stand up and take a stand against 'registration', licenses and other State mandated 'ownership' privileges this is only the first step in a further progression of firearm infringements.  Again, "...shall not be infringed" comes to mind regarding this type of 'behavior' but the proposed next step is really going to hurt if pushed through ................
