Sell a modern BMW motorcycle for a old fashioned 1960's car?  And then use age and reflexes as the excuse?

Guess I don't get it.

My dad sold me his his Beemer last summer due to medical reasons (arthritis and coronary issues, doctor gave him 5 years to live 5 years ago).  I'm glad it stayed in the family.
I don't want to get old

I'm 58 and I ride with guys age 45-71. All on sport or sport touring bikes. You should have seen the Montrose CO. popo's jaw drop when he pulled us over for reports of us driving recklessly and saw every one there was older than he was, by a lot. No citations were issued. Just stern looks and a warning.
In the garage I have a 2006 Honda VFR800,

2008 CBR1000RR

and am in the process of restoring a 1996 CBR600 F3.

It's like breathing to me. Can't imagine life without it. But if you think it's time to hang the helmet up, it probably is. I hope it doesn't get to be that time for me for quite some time.

Wondering the same.

I actually started riding (dirt mostly) to sharpen my reflexes and make me more alert.

Fuck that, when I die, I hope to be in some pussy or on my bike.

I got rid of mine because of two very close calls where I almost got smeared at stop lights from behind.

The second time I heard screeching rubber and a car bearing down on me in the mirror took all the fun away.  I have a 16 year old son.  Nothing is worth having the best shot at seeing him finish growing up with a dad.

Maybe I will take it up later.  I never thought I would give it up but after a year off so far, I don't even miss it.  I loved it but it did keep me stressed.

What if you want to get old? I prefer it to dying under the car of some dimwit teen texting "OMG I just ran over a motorcycle!!LOL"

I laughed. I bet that's exactly how I'll go out.

I'm on my third bike. Got a brand new 2011 GSXR 750 in the garage right now.

Sometimes it isnt the age, its the mileage.

I know a 50+ yr old with over 3 million miles on bikes. He has a garage full of them still. Hell, he rode my new bike for a second.

I sold my BMW and my Triumph about two years ago. All my riding buddies sold their bikes and besides, riding around Dallas is just damned scary. I bought a 1980 CJ5 project to ease the pain.

Cool looking jeep.  Looks to be in great condition; what makes it a "project"?

Never owned a JEEP, eh?

Just Empty Every Pocket is not just a catchy phrase.

Sold mine three years ago after a lifetime of riding. A buddy got killed on his a few years back and I just wanted to hang it up for a while. Recently I have been thinking about getting another one since I live in the country now and can avoid cities. Teens texting are as bad as drunk drivers and there are more of them during the daytime in the city.

It's not the dying that scares me, it's the cagers, and the deer.  I still do it in the dirt with a KX500 and a 700 Raptor.

Very nice bikes BTW!

So you got a tricycle?  Now about that first BH, I can't imagine even trying to ride something like that. What did it weigh and did it ever fall over on you?

I figured that the idiot drivers out there could'nt seem to see my Freightliner on the road, what chance would I have on my bike? I swear, people are just getting more stupid these days.

Just west of Georgetown, bike was in his lane, not speeding, doing everything right. 16yo girl on a cellphone crossed into his lane(US460),he never had a chance.

Got rid of the bike after that.
